The FRBs were donated by US Government to PMSA during Musharraf era to fight terrorism. PN allowed a Polish Company to copy the design of these boats and offer them as Military Assault Boats for Marines. 18 of these boats are currently under process of supply to PN Marines and more are expected to be bought in future as cash flow for procurement is available

fast response boat's are not difficult to build... even we can have purchased from iran...
i always wished few items should be considered from iran.. . like helicopters and air defence tech...

I would like to understand the role of MSA more as it seems to be significant number of CPV in MSA. Is preventing smuggling like currency also the role? Smuggling seems benign compared to terrorist movement but they use each other.

As per PMSA website the Functions are

The tasks assigned to PMSA as per PMSA Act 1994 are:

• Enforce National and International laws, agreements and conventions in the Maritime Zones.
• Prevent unauthorized exploitation of economic resources within the Maritime Zones.
• Protect Pakistani fishing vessels and crew against any threat within the Maritime Zones.
• Assist and co-ordinate Search & Rescue of the vessels, property and lives in distress at sea.
• Assist and coordinate with national and international agencies to prevent and control the effects of marine disasters including pollution.
• Assist and co-ordinate with national and International agencies in hydrographic and oceanographic research and other scientific activities.
• Assist other departments and agencies in safeguarding and protecting offshore installations/structures in the EEZ.
• Provide assistance for petroleum and other mineral exploration in our Maritime zones.
• Co-operate with and provide help to other departments and agencies at sea in the discharge of their duties and functions.
• Perform such other functions as may be assigned by Govt to protect maritime interests of Pakistan.

I know that smuggling is Customs responsibility, however it would be beneficial to add the illegal ingress prevention responsibility by small craft in and out of the cost or within coastal waters

The fast boats have different usage in Iran so hundreds of them inducted meanwhile Pak is only using them for security purposes only. However PN should also consider to induct large number of FACs/ boats armed with light anti ship missiles like Iran to over come a powerful adversary.

The arrival of more ships for Coast guard has enhanced our search and rescue mission at sea and also fight smuggling via sea route

For basic patrol work it makes sense to have these coastal area ships for short missions at sea

But would be nice to see few more 1500 Ton Ships added in our Coast guard units

Presently I don't see these ships being modified for Anti Ship operations as we will likely get Navy Ships for that reason

According to the official PMSA website. PMSSA Kashmir is 3500 tons. I believe that Is a typo? Such a huge ship would be operated by the navy and not the PMSA. They don’t have a use for it…but then again. They’ve used 3000+ Ton destroyers in the past. It’s just too similar to the second one and doesn’t look big enough. I’m still guessing a typo (http://www.pmsa.gov.pk/kashmir.php)

I hope MSA does not become additional jobs while utility is not optimal. It should not be a burden on economy and assets should be utilised well.

I think it has a bigger role than meets the eye and overlaps with coast guards customs and Navy.
