Pakistan man awaits permission to fly homemade plane

This plane can not be a turbofan where the engine remains hidden.
It's a glide vehicle probably. After reaching a certain speed it could possibly fly for few minutes before it touches ground again.

Worst is that he took a loan from microfinance bank with interest rate running as high as 36%.
It is worth the risk if he's flying.

Building airplane requires very sophisticated knowledge obtained by engineers through studying hard and practical experience for decades which this illiterate popcon seller not possess and he is wasting his money .If he has so much desire of building plane he should spend this money to provide his children with quality education so they become capable of building high tech planes of modern days instead of wasting money on this old rejected technology which has no worth in modern world. He is living in his 100 yrs old world with no awareness of the position world has reached

Since you have nothing positive to contribute maybe it is time for you to reach out and lie in the abyss. Tou bhi Pakistan hai tou woh bhi Pakistan hai. At least he has done something to enrich his life, his prior circumstances were beyond his control. Look at the guy cooking in the village and making 3-4lacs on youtube each month. Most people earn that much after much education and years of experience.

The aerofoil of the wing is totally wrong. He cannot take off with these flat wooden planks that he is using for wings. Someone needs to help guide this guy to bring radical changes to the design otherwise he would keep failing and ultimately lose the will to carry on.

To lessen the drag and get sufficient lift he needs to follow the Basic wing aerofoil which is as under:

Where is engine? Where is fan? Where are control surfaces to change direction? If one attaches a card board over a tricycle, does it become plane?

MASHALLAH!

Where there is a will there is a way created:

Good luck!
I would rather polish him. Send him to a summer school or something. Furthermore, a team of aeronautical engineers from CAA should evaluate if it is safe enough for a test flight in an open field.
But definitely, he should be encouraged.

Look at the shape, It will directly fall on earth. It is certainly not glide vehicle.
Where is engine? Where is fan? Where are control surfaces to change direction? If one attaches a card board over a tricycle, does it become plane?
Look at the indian engineers here with their BBA and MBA and lets not forget negativity!

Fayaz spent around Rs90,000 to build the plane

Islamabad: A popcorn seller in Pakistan is waiting for the country’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to allow him to fly his homemade plane after the police had stopped him from performing an unauthorised take-off.

On April 4, the police had returned the plane they had confiscated from Mohammad Fayaz on March 31, after stopping him from taking off using a link road as a makeshift runway near his village, Efe news reported on Monday.

The 30-year-old had dreamed of becoming an air force pilot and flying a plane since he was in school. However, he had to drop out before he could finish his senior year due to poverty.

“Whenever I looked up to watch planes overhead, I longed to fly one myself. And then I thought I should use the creativity that God has bestowed on me to build my own plane and fly it,” Fayaz told Efe news.

Fayaz, who lives in Punjab province’s Pakpattan, spent around 90,000 rupees ($636, Dh2,335) by taking a bank loan, selling a piece of his land and few of his savings, to build the plane.

To fulfil his childhood dream, he took on a job as a night watchman, alongside selling popcorn in the day.

Fayaz began to build his plane over a year ago at home without any technical help from anyone.

He learned the basic rules of air pressure and flying techniques with the help of experiments that he carried out on his own, including one when he was in the fifth standard and was riding on the passenger seat of his father’s motorcycle on his way to school.

Unauthorised test
Fayaz also watched National Geographic channel’s ‘Air Crash Investigation’ show to learn about why planes crashed and to understand the different parts of an aircraft and their functions.

He had also closely examined a grounded Pakistan International Airline plane that was displayed for public viewing at the Chauburji square in Lahore.

Fayaz had initially planned to take off on his maiden flight with his single-seater plane - which sports a national flag on March 23.

However, his application to the police and other security agencies seeking permission for the flight was never acknowledged.

Fayaz said he conducted an unauthorised test flight around a year ago with a smaller engine and made some rounds of his village.

The CAA said they appreciated the passion and skills of the ‘mini airplane’ maker and would provide him the required guidance to achieve more expertise in the field.

Under the New Aviation Policy 2019, developed in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, every effort will be taken to promote the sector and support innovation, it added.

I doubt that plane will fly but I would encourage him to try and even if he fails he still need lot of encourgement just for the efforts ... We need our youth to work on these ideas and to encourage them to take risk and do experiments ,,, this is sign of healthy culture

Wow pop corn seller made it. What a passion even in such poverty he never giveup.
Being an aerospace engineer, I can spot a lot of glaring problems in his design and I may not even let him fly but surely I will encourage him, channel his passion and impart him some knowledge ... so he can make a safe airplane ...

it has propeller in the back of his seat, watch the link of Uk's independent newspaper that @Dubious shared, it has a video of it.

Ok But where is fan? This plane can not be a turbofan engine plane where the engine remains hidden. There should be a Fan in front of plane or the image is old before putting engine.
He first attempted to fly, due underpowered engine he was only able to lift it approximately few feet in the air and landed back again.
He was in the process of changing the engine and claimed that he already purchased a better powerful engine.
