The nature of the world have changed. You example of Israel is poor, as there would obviously be safe guards in place of such things. Vetos are unneeded, and do more damage than good.And what would be the point to that?
Lets say all Muslim countries vote for removal of Israel from UN - what next? Should Israel be removed because the likes of pitiable countries say so?
The point of UNSC was that it would be a forum where none of the great powers could use proxies to act against each other directly. For example, if UN was acting against Soviet Union, SU could simply veto any proposal. That was a weapon of defense.
Or the number of times that US supported Pakistan on the Kashmir cause and wanted India sanctioned, but SU/Russia vetoed it.
These vetos do have a value and are still needed in the future to prevent tyranny of the majority(or tyranny of a minority supported by apathy of the majority). I say this as a citizen of a country who does not have veto, but we all do recognize the value of it.
It doesn't matter what the intention behind the unsc was, what matters is how it is being run, which is a terrible thing.
