Pakistan Looking at Three Option to buy Stealth Aircrafts Including F-35

Why are so many Indians in terrible shock at this news?

It's like, "yeh nahi ho sakta", "main nahi manta", "kyu, kyu, kyu?".

Sounds like India has made a strategic blunder by rejecting the superior F-35 and going for the inferior Rafales. They just did not see Pakistan's audacity at countering Indian Arms Race in Bar-e-Saghir.

The chances USA will allow the sell of F35 are very low Im afraid cause of 2 or more reasons
The chinese connections to Pakistan.
Transference of very advance tech to an arab state.

Should i start eating dates from now on and dance on habibi habibi songs, oh & party in French Riviera , do some intense banging & spend tons of cash on chicks...cuz according to you Pakistanis are arabs, but I want to party like a Arab prince, please tell me once I am an Arab prince just the way you said all Pakistanis are arabs !!! Haha seriously how can you be so dumb ? Are you blonde ?

The news does not make sense to me.

Some of Western countries, the first buyers of this new jet have either cancelled their contracts or reduced the number they will be buying.

F-35 does have new technologies no doubt but there is a lot of criticism on this program here and there are many experts that say F-35 is an overrated technology.

Considering how expensive this project has been, the unit cost of F-35 will be very high and wont go down until its produced in high numbers. Only then it will be cheaper for countries like Pakistan.

Pappy,

Lockheed is a business entity---they need to make a sale to live and feed----so let them do the legwork.

Lockheed cannot overrule the State Department/Pentagon. They could not share the specs of state of the art weapon systems without clearance

Why talk with Lockheed when the approval or rejection of defence products are in the hands of President & Congress?
In the end if the U.S Govt wants to transfer F-35s to Pakistan, then Pakistan will get F-35s. The U.S wouldn't sell this system for commercial purposes, but to continue its foreign policy interests in the region. Once that point is made clear, then you'll see congress members pass it (some will obviously gain from the business contracts by LM, Raytheon, Boeing, etc too).

Chief's statement is meant for our neighbor .. who is about to make a call for Rafale .. Maybe make them think extra HARD with some more delays ... Nothing more, nothing less ..
Your neighbor consists of some seriously insecure people who will then panic and end up boosting their budget even more to try and get more PAK-FA's.. or even try for the F-35 themselves.
It wont matter if the IAF chief knows the truth or not, their government is currently full of insecure folks that have NO OTHER ENEMY in their sights than us.

Hi,

They could lobby the Congress to secure long term contract !

I read that earlier. But at the same time, look at the way the sources are laid out and well documented as to where and how he spoke.

As for the F-35, it is still unlikely despite all these efforts for reasons already laid out.
I agree with you about the difference in the standards of reporting though the last time I read a printed newspaper was many years ago when my father wanted me to have some proficiency in Urdu. F-35 is not as unlikely as many of your guys believe. I would say just wait and see since it will take sometime before PAF will finally decide for its 5th gen. bird

According to reports Pakistan will buy 5th generation fighter jets from abroad while also updating its existing JF-17 warplane.

Pakistan is in the market for the latest fifth-generation fighter jets, as other Asian neighbors also look to upgrade their air force capabilities, writes Muhammad Saleh Zaafir for The News.

Pakistan to keep up with regional rivals in modernizing air force
Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman told The News that Pakistan would keep up with other regional powers that are buying 5th generation jets, and that negotiations have begun with the U.S. about buying single engine multi-role F-35 fighters. The plane is widely regarded as the fighter jet of the next decade.

Aman said that three options are being explored and the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) could have 5th generation jets within 5 years. Historic rival India has been negotiating the acquisition of 126 Rafale fighter jets from France for years, but the deal has proven difficult to complete.

India maintains that the Rafale is a 5th generation jet, but New Delhi will now only buy 36 planes.

‘Pakistan to get fifth generation fighter jets’

Muhammad Saleh Zaafir
- Thursday, December 03, 2015 - From Print Edition

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will acquire the fifth generation multi-role fighter aircraft from the international market but, for the time being, it will devote its full attention on its state-of-the-art JF-17 Thunder to make it the most effective of its generation.

It has been revealed by Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman while talking exclusively with The News here on Wednesday evening. He said that Pakistan wouldn’t lag behind the countries of the region in obtaining the fifth generation planes and it has opened negotiations with the US manufacturers for exploring options of buying single engine multirole F-35 viewed as the plane of the next decade.

At least three other options are under consideration. The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) could be equipped with aircraft of fifth generation within five years. Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman said that Indians were buying 126 French Rafale calling them as fifth generation planes but after discussion of years and hitches, they had decided to buy 36 planes at the end of the day and still the deal was in troubled waters.

“I am not prepared to acknowledge Rafale as a plane of the fifth generation since its features are confined to the fourth generation’s planes,” the CAS maintained.

He said that Indian Air Force (IAF), despite having a numerical edge, doesn’t have superiority over Pakistan since Pakistan has planned its air strength in a way where no aggression could work against it. The PAF’s devotion and skill is second to none and for the reason it is graded one of the best air powers of the world, he said.

“We will never let the nation down in any eventuality or test. People have faith in their armed forces and they are very rightly doing so,” he added. He disclosed that Thunder JF-17 was being sold to four countries without disclosing the buyers and number of the planes. He said that it has become difficult to supply all the ordered aircraft within the stipulated time-frame but we will fulfill our obligations.

The JF-17 to be supplied by Pakistan would be the best in quality as Pakistan wouldn’t compromise on the standards. He said that the operation in the tribal areas was almost complete but some pockets were being cleared.

Without giving any deadline, he said that the whole area would be cleared of terrorists and their facilitators soon. “No deadline for declaring the end of the operation can be given in such operations since you never know what could sneak in from across the borders. The operation has gone in an excellent way and the PAF did its duty in an exemplary manner.”

The air chief said that the PAF was also playing its role in the Karachi operation and he had issued instructions afresh today (Wednesday) morning to accelerate its part of activities to curb terrorism.

Please reply intelligent and not stupid---.

Bingo .. and that is exactly why this statement is made .. any "SANE" person remotely related to this industry would know that its a Bluff call .. however the baboos on the other side will probably go nuts and put their plans under further reviews and evaluations .. further delays .. who knows .. a new govt .. and they are back to sq one .. isn't this what has been happening in the MMRCA.

I don't think PAF is worried about PAK-FA .. something still in development .. most probably a souped-up Su30 and still a long way to go in production and induction .. the immediate danger is Rafale .. that is REAL and a CAPABLE fighter.

Sure that's the wisest post on the subject here .
Also even if in any day dream if , its going to be true ?
then again they will be as toothless as the early 80s F-16s were to us ?
They can be show pieces to , let our single enemy be afraid , but we can't use them in any war ?
Cause the dam machine won't fly , with Been encoded with NASA stallites ?
So , that's really stupid way to throw our money ?

Sorry
Pakfa is a credible super fighter , but been inducted in IAF is far far , future story !

Yaar, don't you think we all know that?

Anyways, which twin engine fighter do you think will be the sensible choice for PAF?
