People here are forgetting what is happening in Pakistan is not as simple as 'us versus the militants'.
Something a lot more sinister is at play.
The majority of the Taliban have absolutely no reason to fight Pakistan or the Pakistani government. They know they belong in Afghanistan, and their enemy is America. They found places to set up their bases in Pakistan, and starting a war with the Pak Govt would be the most counter productive scenario for these Taliban.
If you notice, we seem to be attacked only by this group the Americans refer to as 'Pakistani Taliban'. Not only is the term nonsensical (because the real Taliban was the Afghan Govt), but it shows they are the fake Taliban, and the name is a misnomer. They are simply a terrorist group seeking to cause Havoc in Pakistan. They dont seem to have any goals in Afghanistan whatsoever, and more recently evidence is popping up, revealing their links to CIA.
Bush has brought a proxy war right into Pakistan through this so called Pakistani Taliban. We should treat this like a war and ally ourselves with the real Taliban to fight American supported 'Pakistani Taliban'.
No wonder American media has portrayed every Taliban as the bad guy with no real goal or demand except for beheading people. This way their government can go around plotting anything they want without being questioned by their people.
Western media NEVER goes into detail about the different groups of militants operating in the region. They are all simply portrayed as terrorists, and not worth knowing about. We need ally ourselves with different groups just like the American have done. Why is it that American companies can operate freely in so many parts of Iraq and Afghanistan? Every time there is a kidnapping, certain negotiations take place that we dont hear about, and 'the Taliban' sets free a bunch of people.
The hypocrisy is amazing here and Pakistan has every right to negotiate and ally themselves with the Taliban who mean us no harm.
