On my way to university, i read it in the newspaper (Toronto Sun), That pakistan has killed over a 1000 militants this month.

btw does any 1 know, how many army personals lost their lives?

I think Pakistani forces lost at least 27 personnel

Still USA will say " DO MORE "

The Pakistani Military isn't in the business of beheading and mutilating its opponents and then distributing videos and images to the public like the Takfiri militants are.

One Of these two has got to be true; either there are a lot, huge numers of militants or the claim of 1000 ought to be taken with a grain of salt.

Use of PAF,army aviation, Pak Fauj - and still there are reports that the militants are actually attacking the Fauj - just incredible.

Some estimates have indicated close to 20,000.

And as I said elsewhere, the numbers do match up with the daily reports of casualties that have been reported by various news organizations.

You also have to account for the militants joining the fight from other agencies and Afghanistan.

And now this:

OK, lets say between 20 to 40k militants - aren't you shocked? I'm absolutely floored.

If I understand this correctly Maj.Gen. Tariq Khan has 8K men and I take that at least 3-5k are logistics and support? or is it 8k combat soldiers?

clean up these militants is all good, but we ought to not leave all those politicians and Jirga types who have provided aid and comfort thus far, some harm should come to these - perhaps they are a accident prone bunch - do it them before they do it to us.

People here are forgetting what is happening in Pakistan is not as simple as 'us versus the militants'.
Something a lot more sinister is at play.

The majority of the Taliban have absolutely no reason to fight Pakistan or the Pakistani government. They know they belong in Afghanistan, and their enemy is America. They found places to set up their bases in Pakistan, and starting a war with the Pak Govt would be the most counter productive scenario for these Taliban.

If you notice, we seem to be attacked only by this group the Americans refer to as 'Pakistani Taliban'. Not only is the term nonsensical (because the real Taliban was the Afghan Govt), but it shows they are the fake Taliban, and the name is a misnomer. They are simply a terrorist group seeking to cause Havoc in Pakistan. They dont seem to have any goals in Afghanistan whatsoever, and more recently evidence is popping up, revealing their links to CIA.

Bush has brought a proxy war right into Pakistan through this so called Pakistani Taliban. We should treat this like a war and ally ourselves with the real Taliban to fight American supported 'Pakistani Taliban'.

No wonder American media has portrayed every Taliban as the bad guy with no real goal or demand except for beheading people. This way their government can go around plotting anything they want without being questioned by their people.

Western media NEVER goes into detail about the different groups of militants operating in the region. They are all simply portrayed as terrorists, and not worth knowing about. We need ally ourselves with different groups just like the American have done. Why is it that American companies can operate freely in so many parts of Iraq and Afghanistan? Every time there is a kidnapping, certain negotiations take place that we dont hear about, and 'the Taliban' sets free a bunch of people.
The hypocrisy is amazing here and Pakistan has every right to negotiate and ally themselves with the Taliban who mean us no harm.

Taliban are challenging the writ of Pakistan. The reason why they were never against Pakistan was because Pakistan never tried to control these areas. THey always had a free hand, and they are resisting change to that now.

united pak

No doubt there are many players, but check out "whose war" thread on this board and you will find some more info on TTP - Granted that tings are not s simple as they seem, but lets not fall for the propaganda either.

It depends upon who you define as talibans to be at the first place? The taliban under the leadership of Mullah omar or the ones under the leadership of Mehsud who has nothing to do with jihad or war or whatever you want to call it in afghanistan and his sole purpose is to hurt Pakistan and its institutions.
Have you ever wondered why HIG is on the top list of the US and Mehsud is allowed to walk away even when exact cordinates are provided by Pakistan.

So do a little thinking out of the context in which you would normally see things that is India-vs-Pakistan and you might be able to have a clearer vision of whats going on.

Taliban is just a name that is used by everyone these days, even the terrorists like Mehsud use it. Its just a cover up, do bad and name taliban for that. US is clearly differentiating, its about time we do the same as well afterall self interest should come first.
