Pakistan joins ‘Madrid System of Trademark of WIPO:Razak

See above
India has applied to the European Union for the GI tag for exclusive registration of Basmati, which shows its mala fide intensions.
Basmati trademark registered in one person’s name
The Intellectual Property Organisation of Pakistan (IPO-Pakistan) registered the trademark of Basmati in an individual’s name under application number 179196 in Class 30 dated July 20, 2002, with a disclaimer that it might be challenged.
Yeah it seems you didn't understand the situation

Pakistan is fighting to defeat India's bid to get Basmati Rice registered as its own product in the EU and as such to strengthen their case the govt has made it a part of their recognized Property under the local GI act

The GI tag that the tweet mentions is just a local designation and only exists to increase Pakistan's chances of winning in intl court , Because how do you claim an international Geographical Indicator for a product when your own country doesn't have such a designation . India, on the other hand, enacted GI legislation in 1999 and by 2003 it came into effect.

The EU hasn't actually given out any GI or IP tags on Basmati Rice as of yet and the case is still ongoing .

India ,Pak,Nepal etc can give whatever local designations and tags they want but the real prize is the protection and opportunties the EU tag comes with and that's still not been given .

you are sharing old Indian propaganda. The Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) has announced that Pakistan received the geographical indication (GI) tag for its Basmati rice on January 26, 2021.

.
So choosing to register for a GI tag is mala fide ( carried out in bad faith or with intent to deceive.)

You think India should register Pakistan as well when they chose to go for the GI tag.

And you think Pakistan would have done that if they got there first, do you.

I know most on PDF have lost their marbles but some do not even know what marbles look like. :laughcry:

I think Pakistan has a very good case registering the word "India" under a GI/intellectual copyright tag.

The river Indus and the IVC are substantially and inextricably associated with coterminous Pakistan.

The name "Gangadesh" should be enforced on you halfwits. Before you whine something in response, consider that Greece did precisely this with FYROM, forcing them to formally detach from their falsely usurped association with Macedonia. Such a step isn't unprecedented.

Imagine: "Gangadeshi Basmati, product of Gangadesh".

It just oozes class doesn't it?

The GI tag ensures that none other than those registered as authorized users (or at least those residing inside the geographic territory). Is India living in Pakistan? You have tried to reside, but we give surprise on 27 Feb. Do you want to try us one more time?

FROM THE LOCAL GOVERMENT UNDER A LOCAL ACT ...How difficult is that to understand ?

Here's the story about REAP's announcement by your own newspaper from Jan 28 ,2021

This is Pakistan's internal designation . Don't get confused between the local govt declaring it GI and the foreign trade markets like EU designating it a GI . India had got its internal GI for Basmati Rice all the way back in 2008

If India uses its own GI Act to declare say Cognac or Parmesan an indian product it can do so with no restrictions but that doesn't mean the EU,US,CHN markets will automatically start accepting that and paying us royalty on its imports .

The whole drama is to get the EU to recognize it as a country's property and the EU hasn't made any decisions yet ....As simple as that

What an Indian twist, just like your own media. Even changed the context of original news.

This what it is wrtitten "We are now hopeful that we can increase the reach of local Basmati in export markets and believe that the government will create more opportunities to enhance our export revenue from rice"
