JF 17 Thunder
Pakistan is currently considering the purchase of Korea’s T-50 lead-in fighter trainer to revamp its air fleet training program : says Defence Production Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain.

Defence Minister says we are also interesting in tank engines (1500hp).

i dont know about the tank engine but i know he stx would build a shipyard in gwadar if pakistan purchased the t-50.
These r expensive trainers we can buy Yak from Russia too that doors is open too I guess the main replacement would be f7 t of No 2 sqd but it's based on F16 must say would be ideal for PAF training since front line Aircrafts r F16 and jf17

SOUTH AFRICA
SOUTH KOREA??
France I don't think any deal future since we retiring French Jets could be sub systems for JF17 .

Pakistan can manufacture advanced trainers at home. We have enough requirements to make them in PAC. Custom advanced trainer can also be prepared with some R&D in K-8 + JF-17 project. It will also give us some diversity in aircraft designing & production field.

It's a possibility but Pakistan doesn't have the advance R&D setup.
Pakistan need to build strategic defense relationship with Turkey, South Africa, Serbia and South Korea.

If we select T50 over Yak130, then say bye bye to Su35.
But T50, Tank engines (for T99) and ship yard at gwadar are very appreciable steps......

I suppose that K8 could be upgraded now.... current version is at least ten years old... Both airframe and systems could be upgraded.

No it is not.

JF-17B (Two-Seat trainer variant) is cheaper, better and will be available next year.

K8 is another class of trainer you can say it's a Basic to intermediate Jet Trainer where as T-50s are Intermediate to Advanced Jet Trainer. Their engines are a class apart in thrust as well but still I would like to go for Yak 130 as those are much better choice in front of T-50 as those have redundant engine and have a huge room for upgradation. In addition if we sync these 2 like if we go for the same engines for Yak 130 and a new version of K8 then it may took some time but it will simplify the logistics for PAF.
