He made the remark during a meeting with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France, ANI reported.

"All issues between India & Pakistan are bilateral in nature, that is why we don't bother any other country regarding them," Modi said.

He said India and Pakistan were together before 1947 and that he was "confident that we can discuss our problems and solve them, together".

The Indian premier also said he has told Prime Minister Imran Khan that they should work together for the welfare of their two countries.

Trump, meanwhile, said he spoke to Modi about the situation in occupied Kashmir and that he was told by Modi that he "has it under control" in occupied Kashmir.

"We spoke last night about Kashmir, prime minister really feels he has it under control. They speak with Pakistan and I'm sure that they will be able to do something that will be very good."

"We spoke last night about Kashmir, the prime minister really feels he has it under control," he told reporters. "They speak with Pakistan and I'm sure that they will be able to do something that will be very good," he said.

Trump infuriated the Indian government last month when he said Modi had asked him to mediate in the dispute, drawing an immediate denial from New Delhi.

Sitting alongside Trump, Modi said the issues over Kashmir were bilateral, between India and Pakistan.

Modi's abrupt decision this month to cancel the mainly Muslim region's autonomous status triggered weeks of protests, mainly in the restive district of Soura, which has emerged as the center of discontent.

It has also drawn deep anger in Pakistan, which said last week it would take the case to the International Court of Justice.

On Monday, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said the United Nations had a responsibility to ensure that the people of Kashmir had the right to decide their own future through a referendum.

He called Modi's intervention a "huge blunder" and said the risk of nuclear confrontation between the two countries meant the issue went beyond the immediate region.

"The responsibility today lies on the international community," he said in a special televised address on Kashmir, adding that Pakistan would "go to any length at every forum" to press the issue.

He called on Pakistanis to stop work for half an hour on Friday as a mark of solidarity with Kashmiris. "We as a whole nation give this message to the 8 million Kashmiris that we are standing with them," he said.

Kashmir has been the starting point for two of the three wars India and Pakistan have fought since the two states were created out of British-ruled India following World War Two.

In February this year, following a militant attack on a police convoy in Indian-controlled Kashmir, the two countries came close to war with jets fighting a dogfight in the skies over Kashmir before tensions eased. Pakistan have to show strength , that is the only option left now...…….. Remember people only stand with strong..
I have no hope with any diplomacy or with any other country (Islamic brotherly country or Any other)…
People in IOK (Pakistanis by all means) dying and …………………..

I know our economy is at its weakest , we have FATF problem , political instability , this is not the right time for Pakistan to do any thing ….. But keep this in mind … This is the Golden time for our enemy …… So we see the Indian move ………
Time is running out of our hand , now we don't have 70+ years ….. at max we got 5 years before it is too late , even this 5 years delay will harm Pakistan and Kashmir ……..

Trump is narcissist people pleaser who just seeks his "narcissistic supply" by giving people what that they want to hear, gets attention (i.e. narcissistic supply) and then flips to the other side.

You are referring to the white baby boomer "my best friend is black" mentality which Pakistanis don't understand.

Or maybe he want to milk Pakistan ,,,,,, like accepting isreal , leaving CPEC etc.... maybe he want something more , extra..
Or maybe he is trying to milk india , F-21 , F-18 etc...….. who knows …….
But one thing is clear , all the countries and nations work for their own interests ……. Kashmir got all of our water , if we let it go then we let go our water ,,,,, just look at world response now , Mark my words , these responses will remain same when india stop our water after taking IOK...…
This is test case for Pakistan , if we only doing talks and diplomacy cries then this will be green light to india and world ….. india will build dams , stop water and International community will still play talks talks shit ,...…. time to act …. one like it or not...
