I think it is time we bring Afridi in the Test side permanently...he is a very shrewd cricketer, we should have retained him in the test side on long term, his overall skills would really make him a huge boost...better late than never i say.
He has become a very smart cricketer, no doubt. I would support the idea of him being re-included in the Test side, but on probation, not permanently. I have been saying for a while that Pakistan is in dire need of a reliable all-rounder right now, and the Captain said the same thing before the start of this Test.
Shahid Afridi has shown that he is a uniquely handy and crafty bowler, and we know that he has the ability to put the opposition under immense pressure with the bat. However, I do not support a permanent place for him yet because he is very unreliable with the bat, and Pakistan needs a primarily batting all-rounder. The only true batting all-rounder we have is Shoaib Malik, but his performance has not been up to par recently. Hence, the opening is there for bowling all-rounders like Afridi and Abdur Razzaq, we just have to see which one deserves it more.
Too old man. If we're going to do that, then why not bring back Akram, Waqar, Saqlain, Ijaz, Sohail, Inzi etc. Come to think of it, if we get all the ex-greats together to play a Test against our current squad, our current batsmen wouldn't last more than 20 overs!Bring a great stroker Saeed Anwar, a game winner always !!
Teenagers?! They're all in the mid-to-late 20s. In Butt we had a terrific talent, the second-coming of Saeed Anwar, but we wasted his talent by not trusting him enough. There is still time, if we stick with him and let him grow as a Test and ODI batsman, hecan be a great player for us for at least 10 years. Look at Mohammad Yousuf, he's 35 and our best batsman by far, but he wasn't our best batsman when he was 25.Young teenagers nervous Farhat, Faisal, Salman
