Pakistan husband splashed wife with acid to stop her from becoming an airhostess

Wow... What a monster, throwing acid on his wife.

.
You think a drug addict is a man?
He doesn't know if he is coming or going. He doesn't provide for his family
He doesn't care for his wife and kids
A drug addict is weak and needs a fix
He is a coward running away from facing life.
No my simple friend a DRUG ADDICT IS NOT A MAN IN MY WORLD

So? Drug smugglers need to lessen their burden not the addicts ----

In India pakistan Bangladesh this vile act must be stopped by equally harsh punishment. Acid for acid.
We do have a provision in criminal law in this respect . Doable

.
Even if we miraculously start the economy growing again and somehow overcome terrorism, we still have a lot of work to do before calling ourselves remotely civilised, this is a reminder.

We still need to overcome illiteracy and general backwardness, other societal ills such as extremism and drug addiction, the latter which will be one of the biggest issues we face in the future for both social cohesion and public health. Advancement of women's rights would be another step necessary for progress. We'll still need to deal with lawlessness, environmental issues, and strengthening other aspects of nation building.

We've got a long way to go.

No one in a village without electricity, tv, internet will ever hear about the punishment or this story.
The best thing is to do against this animalistic acts is education, awareness. This is an act by extreme conservative minds (either in culture or religion).

Kanwal Qayyum, a Pakistani woman, is getting her life back after her husband splashed her with acid.

He did not want not want her to become an air hostess.

Her story, which has come to limelight, draws attention once again to the serious threat faced by women in South Asia from unchecked sale of acids.

Kanwal was 16 when she was married to her distant cousin. The man was not educated and did some menial jobs, before turning completely jobless and getting addicted to drugs. By then, they had 12 year old son and eight year old daughter.

Fearing for the future of her children, she got herself educated, started looking for jobs, and was lucky to get an offer from an international airlines.

It didn't go down too well with her husband. One day when she opened the door, he was there and he threw acid on her face after which all she could remember was the excruciating pain, notes Dawn.

The incident had completely shattered her face. She was left with xad no eyebrows, lashes or nose. Her own child didn't want to face her as she was scared.

A Pakistani NGO Depilex Smile again Foundation, which works with acid victims, introduced Kanwal to UK cosmetic surgeon Dr. Asim Shahmalak.

He travelled to Pakistan for two years to help the women like her. He rebuilt her eye brows and lashes by taking the hair from the back of her scalp and did her nose with the tissue taken from her thighs.

Dr Shahmalak says he wept on hearing the stories of women like her. He spent $50,000 on the treatment of Kanwal and 5 other acid attack victims, notes Metro. He also added what he does to help them is the most rewarding thing he could do.

As she got somewhat close to her old face back through surgeries, she became more confident and reunited with her family. She now plans to get married to a man who had stood by her.

She still needs a few more surgeries, which Dr Shahmalak is preparing for.

Can Indians find something positive to talk about Pakistsn, you guys always putting up nagative things, when truth is that there are more troubling news in Indian compare to Pakistan.

You will hardly see Pakistsnis doing those posts that Indians do. You agenda shows though it clearly. So go away and come back only after you clear your head of Pakistan hating agenda.

Compare and you will see. So stop your undermining of Pakistan. There are criminals in every country, but your country takes the cake and is called rape capital of the world for a reason. So go and fix that before you report about Pakistan.

This story was doing rounds on social media that her best friend threw acid on her out of jealousy.
You may be right, but Indisns give it a twist by assuredly making it seem like her husband did it, so you can see how slowly Indians are trying to poison the minds of Pakistani people by fake news, by falsehood.

This goes beyond Pakistan, India, Bangladesh or whatever. Misogyny exists cross culturally. The guy who did this is a piece of S@#. As are all the men across the world who intentionally physically and emotionally abuse their spouses.

And it is true but than this is true as well thatinduan society of all other world societies do harm to their much more so if compared with other societies, and that is why world media call Delhi, rape capital of the world.

So you must indicate the truth and not only report about Pakistan. When you report a comparative post than you have Marist otherwise it is a peace to oppress and degrade Pakistanis.

Her own child didn't want to face her as she was scared.
The worst part.
Children are never taken into consideration when people take such extreme steps. The woman will live but her kids will remain affected. Not just seeing her tragic state but also now will probably have a divided family due to her inclination to re-marry.

the question is not of occurrences. More about what happens after...in the west many women don't report domestic abuse, and many don't get the justice they deserve.

But, in the 3rd world - getting justice is the anomaly - it's out of the norm! Then again, that's a reflection on the criminal justice system as a whole. Justice delayed in this part of the world is justice denied in many instances. :(

I disagree, India and Pakistan has given Punishment to criminals and crimes against Women, of course we are not even close to the justice system in west, but we are in right direction ..

Barely in the right direction.

The domestic abuse that goes on in the middle class (upper, middle and lower) is virtually hidden. Women tend to stay quiet for a myriad of reasons.

- For the sake of the marriage (she has no where else to go)
- Children (worried about providing for them or losing them)
- Society (the pressure society places on women to stay in a relationship, not to mention her own family - that's before we get to the perils a single mother faces)

Lets not even get into what happens in rural areas and the 'justice' women in villages get.

I'm speaking from first hand experience because my mother worked for the UN and spent a ton of time in India/Pakistan/Bangladesh - dealing with this very issue.

Such a pretty face marred by an worthless idiot. Acid sales should be regulated.
If not acid some thing else will be used, then we should also ban knives as well.

The guy is a third rate cheap low esteemed egoistic arrogant person who cannot digest the fact that his wife can earn and run the family. These things happen when society has stereotyped views of role of female in family.
