Pakistan hopes MBS will make brief stopover

Unfortunately bro , Iranians don’t share your same ideals when back stabbing Pakistani. Let’s not forget it was Iran who voted to save india in the 90s at United Nations resolution over Kashmiri genocide. These scum people have been fighting against our interests from Afghanistan to Central Asia, Iran seriously a threat Trojan horse under Islamic disguised

And no actions have dire consequences for us too. Mate. With our good friends. Why do you bring dollars into it for , Gulf states are our ally’s and good friends. Do you think U.K. joins US wars for American dollars.

Iran looks out for Iran. Anyone who looks behind the the surface would come to the conclusion in a heart beat. Ignoring the theatrics of the Islamic revolution the Iranian government has raised the human development indexes of the population by a large amount. It is high time Pakistan looked at what Iran did here.

It is like saying prostitution, pimping and drug dealing makes money. I like to have a little higher standard than that. Not fighting in Yemen is the right decision for Pakistan. May be it was made for wrong reasons. Maybe the real mistake was to tell the Saudis that you were going to be their errand boy for all their petty tribal conflicts.

. . .
The Saudis don''t have any trust let alone hope in a military/thief cabal which hasn't got a clue about economics, or how to run a nation full stop.
China is also looking the other way.
These idiots will learn the hard way, and the quicker the better. They will have little choice but to give in.
China Daily , fist time shown Pak-IMF deal frustration ... and raising the question when Pak will be out of IMF .

good on Iran for protecting its national interests unlike us Pakistanis, And why wouldn’t Tehran go round doing stuff nobody else is going to help them do it. And here’s my problem, why is it a problem when it comes to Pakistan helping countries outside its region gets called named like a puppet when we all could see it was in Pakistan’s interests to aid Saudis & gulf states. When Iran does same in helping putin in Ukraine it’s seen as hero. Historically Pakistani were the first ones to stand up to USSR. In Afghanistan we were called proxies how weird is that. Iran by all yard sticks like it’s neighbouring gulf states have vast amount of natural minerals and resources they have been blessed will of course be miles ahead of us in all areas no point-drawing up graphs mate and league tables it’s just common sense they got better prospects , Pakistanis is a young country given a very bad hand from the start “ God willing it will get better”

I do not like the Saudis for the long term. But I am fine with Pakistan throwing its lot with Saudis. It is not the worst decision you can make. At the end of the day your country, your national interests, your foreign policy.

We thought our key ally would not attend G20 in India.
That's small potatoes compared to what is brewing. Just watched on TV:

ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan is pushing for the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is traveling to India later this week for the G-20 summit.

Though the Foreign Office is tight-lipped over the possible stopover by the Saudi de facto ruler as the travels to New Delhi to attend the summit, the sources in the PM Office did not rule out the possibility.

“Nothing is official yet but there are signals that the Saudi crown prince may travel to Pakistan during his visit to India,” said a source at the Prime Minister Office.

There was no confirmation from either side as sources said there was a possibility that both the sides wanted to keep the visit under wraps till the last moment.

However, if the visit is materialised that would be only for a few hours, according to sources.

The reason Pakistan is keen that the Saudi crown prince undertakes visit to Islamabad, even for a few hours, is to avoid a possible public backlash. Many countries, particularly the big powers, have in recent years de-hyphenated Pakistan and India relationship with the exception of Gulf state that still maintain a certain balance with regard to their relations with the nuclear-armed nations.

In February 2019, when the Saudi crown prince undertook a visit to India, he also travelled to Pakistan.

Officials feel that if the Saudi ruler skips the Pakistan trip while traveling to India, that would invite a public backlash. The Saudi crown prince is not only attending the G20 summit, slated for September 9 and 10, but will stay back in Delhi for a day on a state visit.

In this situation, it has become even more important for Pakistan that MBS visits the country, sources said.

The other factor due to which Pakistan is pushing for the visit is because it considers Saudi Arabia a key player for its economic revival plan. Pakistan has set up a Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to attract foreign investment, particularly from the Gulf countries.

The visit of the Saudi crown prince would help that cause, as per the sources.

At a weekly briefing last Thursday, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said there was no announcement from either side about the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman to Pakistan.
The Saudi crown prince had earlier postponed his visit to Pakistan in November last year. The Saudi de facto ruler was to travel to Islamabad on November 21, his first visit in over four years that Pakistan was hoping would bring another financial bailout package.
The Saudis probably look down upon us. Don't blame them though.

We only have a $400 billion economy with 250 million people, lol.
The state of our nation is behind other countries like China and Japan or Germany and France.
Our people need to better educated.
There is much to be done in Pakistan.

No, Suadi doing the right thing for their country, I am addressing emotional Pakistani. Everyone protects their national interest.
You are correct Sir. Every nation looks after their national interests and that includes Saudi Arabia.

Now wonder why Saudi Arabia sends their students to USA and West for higher education, lol.

But we Pakistanis have a special relationship with China. In many fields China is on par with the West.

We should sent Pakistani students to both the "West' and to China for higher education.

Had anyone imagined 10/20 years ago that a day would dawn when Pakistan will be pleading with a Saudi monarch to step out his plane for an hour or two on his actual visit to India, and there to meet with Modi , exponent of Hindutva,

If the Saudis can do business with USA the backer of Zionist Israel why would India be any different ? It boils down to energy and regional security. In reality Saudis have been waiting for Indian leaders to improve relations since early 2000s. Indian leaders have been slow to respond to Saudi overtures.

This is a well-written article and balanced.

I spoke with a private equity investor friend who's very close with a Saudi Prince they studied together in Chicago. He said that beyond Pakistan's failure of structural reforms and having imbeciles rule the country, the Gulf region is in a transformative phase, pushing away from its reliance on oil as the primary source of revenue. The Gulf will need trillions of dollars, and they need friends who can ride along with them, not friends (dead horses) they have to carry around.

As we have seen with Gulf-Israeli approaches in recent years, it's no longer an us versus them block; the Israelis need the Arabs, and the Arabs need the Israelis. Pakistan has failed to capitalize on the economic and military front. They know it's a lame duck in the region, a sick man of South Asia, as the Ottomans were Sick men of Europe.

We've always looked at relations from a religious point of view. The hard reality is the Arabs didn't from the get-go - they invested in Indian-Occupied Kashmir 3 billion dollars, among other billions thrown into the Indian market. In comparison, we have an army chief and prime minister running around with a begging bowl for a measly 1 billion dollars.

I mentioned it once on this forum: the Kennedy family made money from the stock market. The story went Kennedy Senior stopped by the local exchange, and a shoe shine boy was advising on stocks. He decided to short the market; as he said, when the Shoe Shine Boy gives economic advice, you know things are going wrong. Pakistan played the game all wrong, and in the end, it lost.
Pakistan didn't play the game at all. The only objective they collectively worked towards from politicians, bureaucrats to faujis and your local doodh and rerrhi wala is to con and cheat his way to personal enrichment. There was no effort at the national level nor any consensus developed on the economic front. And this behavior also carries abroad, whereby Pakistanis don't support their countrymen to the extend Indians do nor do they go out of their way to support Pakistan in terms of business and outsourcing. Indians can fill case study volumes of how they've shifted whole production lines overnight to India.

I do not think he will come , he may come later .
