Pakistan hockey's revival - Only option left !

Last chance to revive Pakistan hockey is to make Manzoor Hussain Junior , the celebrated inside right of 70s and 80s as hockey coach and let him select and train his team . He used to be main schemer and knows how to develop attack in Asian style . Unfortunately he has never given opportunity to coach national side as yet. I am convinced that only Manzoor can give us results from crop of ex Olympians , Not even Islah, or Samiullah , or Akhter Rasool or Shahnaz Sheikh or Shahbaz Senior etc.

If Manzoor is not used then only option left for Pakistan hockey's revival is to hire Australian coach ..............only Australian and not German Dutch or any European.........because Australian hockey is no.1 and uses best of Asian as well as European style .

But firstly Manzoor Jr. should be tried ......we cant be any lower now and nothing to more loose so lets try Manzoor Jr. first !.

We need to hire a foreign coach, which can teach Pak players new tricks and improve the conditioning..


No need to hire a local Coach who has played hockey in 70's and 80's .

we must start thinking about a whole revamp even our social structure needs to change we must get private investors and give players incentives get the families and public involved

You cannot become elite

a) When your fitness level is Zero
b) When your technique is flawed to stop the ball
c) When your technique to strike is flawed

Other countries are playing Hockey since 4-5 year old on wards

Only move presently I see is give "Funding" to local federation , we have our own coaches to teach players

If cricket Body budget and annual worth is 50-60 Million Dollars , I hope we can raise same level of financing for Hockey before any improvement

Why I prefer Manzoor Junior as Pakistan's coach because , although he may be a player of 80s but he is still the best person in the world to understand the dynamics of Asian style right side attack , something which is missing in our team for long time. In history of Pakistan hockey starting from 1948 till present only times we remained on top were when our right side attack was best and Manzoor Junior has been the best of best during his time. Our glory days players like Hanif Khan , Hasan Sardar, Kalimullah, Islah and Samiullah had great skills but the main schemer who used to carry on our attack till goal was Manzoor Junior and without Manzoor's right side attacks the rest were not as lethal . After Manzoor's retirement we failed to develop another right side schemer like him and the results are in front of us .

Manzoor Jr. is not my relative and I even never met him but I have seen him play as well as coach and trust me he is a guy who can deliver provided he is given full authority in selection and training of the team . We have nothing more to loose so lets give him a shot ! If he fails then next best option is to hire an Australian coach , but who also knows the dynamics of right side attack ....as this is basic key to success no matter what style one plays . I am not sure if Australian player of 90s David Warnsborough coaches but if he does he used to be good right side schemer as well !

But lets use the Pakistan's own genius first !
