Listen dear,,,its not doctors who make ths patients appear on videos,,,its business ppl running the hospital,,they do it to gain popularity

And this media publicity is the reason Indian govt. has to curtail and curb the med. visas to Pakistan...so what is supposedly done to promote med. tourism from Pakistan resulted in the opposite and the end of medical tourism from Pakistan.

Why and how?? with more media publicity in India mainstream(India today) and many more channels the hardliners, the Sanghis and Senas, the extremist VHP, the Shiv Sena, RSS constituency started protesting against the Pakistani patients visiting India(due to media publicity they got to know about it). If hospitals haven't publicized it, it would have been fine.

So with BJP in the center and RSS, VHP supporting the govt. India had no choice but to budge to the demand of hardliners as they are in the center, not just at the fringe...and this led to India curbing the Med. Visas...on strong public demand of Indian people(not all of them)....


The travails and the pitfalls of too much media hype and publicity....it backfired here.

Sonia Gandhi even cancelled payment of one particular patient in past and Pakistanis are not charged 2-3 times more than Indians.. That's for western patients, even they get the facilities for what they are paying for and a vacation in goa after treatment.. All included in the cost charged by hospital for western patients.. Pakistanis pay 20-30% more than Indian for the same treatment.

I dont know how many times i have to clear this,,,Pakistani patients dont pay 2-3times more,,,they pay an extra amount only if they declare tht they r foreigners,,,,n despite what a lot of Pakistanis project here most of thm look like north Indians,,,,n they come n go like Indians in hospitals,,,thr r instances where poor patients got free treatment,,,mostly frm govt. hospitals though.

Sir there were instances where the government even gave them free treatment in private hospital.. The Sonia Gandhi one I remember.. We should not do it, free treatment only for those who contribute to our nation.. That is Indian citizen only.. I also replied because they have a wring perception that they pay 2-3 times more than a Indian citizen.

Most probably u r right,,,but hardliners r asking for rammandir more thn banning Pakistanis,,they didnt get the mandir,,did they.

Government of India has sanctioned free medical treatment of another batch of 20 Pakistani children-patients. This will bring the total number of Pakistani children receiving free treatment in India to 60. This scheme is being implemented through our High Commission in Islamabad. It has enabled needy and seriously ill children in Pakistan to get quality medical treatment free of cost in India. Under this scheme, Government pays the air fare and accommodation for the child and one guardian. Of these, 48 children were heart patients who were treated at Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital, Bangalore and Escorts Hospital, New Delhi.

Add to this the Uri and PathanKot attacks, firing and killings on both sides in LOC Kashmir...and the current govt. changed priorities as well.

What I've posted above and my earlier posts proves that...Indian govt. have to change its stance on Pakistan and shift its policies due to public demand from the hardliners...and the govt. ministers supported and accepted that move....fair enough.

I read the attached link, it was an old 2005 report...wondering how this is possible in the current animosity and heated atmosphere.



....just to add SKMCH, the Lahore based cancer hospital has treated about 1600 Afghan children of cancer for free, the curing rate was high above 95% in children..and incurred more than a billion rupees on their treatment, not a single media house here published any report about it over the years...came to know about it through Afghan media just now. Not a single media bulletin from the hospital about this gesture.

...the point is it is about the self esteem and the prestige of the patient as well, they don't like to be projected as some commodities in full media glare, specially if that is a charity thing....need to be a hush hush affair.

They made it look as doing some kind of charity and humanitarian work free of cost...

Truth is it's not really our duty to treat and cure a Pakistani , it's your government's duty to provide you decent medical treatment in your country, but if a Pakistani or any other national is in our hospital we ensure that he/she is treated well and be cured ,
I can understand that we should provide more and more medical visas to Pakistani people
But Pakistani people and people of other nationalities are not entitled to the subsidies our government provides to its citizens that's the reason they have to pay more

Open heart surgery is a very basic need ,Heart related problems are rising in both india and pakistan,if you ask me it's pretty basic, I have seen Pakistani people visiting india due to it

Ok buddy, but you should know that we can provide medical facilities to even the most critical cases at a fraction of cost than any other country,
Your citizens are not entitled to any subsidies provided by our government that's why you have to pay more
