Pakistan Health Care System NOW Better Than India After Introduction of UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE?

WELL THAT IS GOVERNMENT OF SINDH FOR U GUYS

The federal government needs to take this to court and get whatever idiotic amendment that is limiting its authority in the province overturned.

Salaam

We are going off-topic but I think it is sort of related to try to define what should work for Pakistan. As you said, people contributing to health insurance should be required for those who could afford. Why give free to someone who could afford? I am not just talking about Pakistan but about everywhere.

I'd rather live in the UK or Canada or just about any EU country in a heart-beat if healthcare coverage was the main criteria. You guys, who don't know the American healthcare system, just DON'T KNOW how corrupt, heartless and exploitative it is! On top of that, the culture is of everyone-for-themselves extreme. It is a toxic combination and I believe it manifests itself in violence, loneliness, and even psychopathic behavior. When basic human rights--such as healthcare and social connectivity are in question then a person can't be unaffected.

This is where the American side comes out bro. The government isn't giving anything for free because it is actually charging taxes. So both the rich and the poor tax payer is paying their share towards supporting the system.

The free at point of contact is important. However, if you are well off you could get private insurance as well, if you want. Probably better service and such but the basic healthcare services should be free for all at point of contact.

Because you asked, we have something called "Ayushman bharat" which covers the poorest most citizens of the India, mostly serious illnesses that require hospitalisation .

1. Then why are there ads on NDTV India asking the public to donate charity for treatment of the blind in the country ?

2. Why do exist organizations like Ketto which collect crowdsourced money for treatment of named cases for cancers, kidney ailments etc ? Where is the government ? Should these patients die because they don't have the 10 lakhs to 60 lakhs to even 1+ crore in a case as treatment fees ?

3. Why does exist the ridiculous health insurance system, private or otherwise ?

4. What about those families, including from the middle class, including for COVID, who have gone into economic distress resulting from the treatment of even one family member ?

If someone makes a study of this Ayushman Bharat scheme they can think up of other wrongs in it. For example, quoting your posted article :
Launched just under six months ago, Ayushman Bharat aims to provide 500 million Indian families with health insurance of 500,000 rupees (£5,450) a year for secondary and tertiary medical care. Those eligible are the most vulnerable sections of the population
1. What about the remainder 900 million Indians ? Should they be left to the profit-demanding private hospitals and insurance companies ?

2. What if in a family more than one member has health issues ?

3. What if the cost of the treatment ( of even one member ) is more than 500,000 rupees ?

Why can't healthcare in India be free and universal ?

Universal Health Coverage is a good initiative but it wont succeed unless base infrastructure is not improved. People will go toward big cities rather than going to local hospital. Lack of facilities is a big issue in smaller cities.

1. I donot know who NDTV is collecting money for, I have not verified. Could you ask them eho they collecting money for and why govt. is not helping them?
2. Again, i cant speak for ketto. Patient need to have name in census and a admission in tertiary centre to avail treatment under ayushman bharat
3. Not every one is covered under ayushamn, only the poorest half of our population . middle class still needs insurance be it private or govt. (PMJAY)
4. Currently middle class family are not covered, but PMJAY does reimburses money if you aplied. Ayushman is only two years old and massive project. Give it some time please
5. Healthcare is costly, free and universal could be possible in future.
