Kashmir has remained a longstanding unresolved issue between the two countries causing acrimony on both side

The only issue of dispute between India and Pakistan as far as Jammu and Kashmir is concerned is the illegal occupation of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan by Pakistan, the government on Thursday said. Union Minister Jitendra Singh reiterated India’s demand that Pakistan should vacate illegal occupation of these areas.

Singh’s sharp remarks came in response to Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit favouring resolution of Kashmir dispute as per the “aspirations of Kashmiris”.

Basit was speaking at an event at the High Commission at New Delhi on Thursday to mark Pakistan’s national day.

Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Singh said “Today if there is any issue between India and Pakistan on J&K, it is only the illegal occupation by Pakistan, whether it is Azad Kashmir (Azad Kashmir) or Gilgit-Baltistan”.

He also added, “How it can be freed from Pakistan’s occupation and made a part of the Indian republic…that is the only issue now”.

Singh said India’s position has been clear for many years now and in 1994, a resolution (on the issue) was also passed in Parliament which all political parties had supported.

Basit had said the aspirations of people “can be suppressed but not quelled and I hope the struggle of the Kashmiris will prove successful”.

Kashmir has remained a longstanding unresolved issue between the two countries causing acrimony on both sides.

. . . .
I see the frustration level of Pakistanis posters in this thread.
Kashmir is integral part of India and will be. Occupied territory will be merged soon with J&K.
Azad Kashmir is an independent state and i am a proud resident of it but on other hand J&K is occupied by India.

Indians keep talking lies and non-sense without a having shame. This idiot Indian minister has no legal basis for his stupid claim and demand . India is illegally occupying a part of J&K in continued violation of UN resolutions. That's the real legal position of the occupied state. Whatever else this Indian minister is claiming is nothing more than lies. We shouldn't really react to such Indian lies because not a single country in world take Indian claims seriously. Every one knows Indians are resorting to bigotry and lies.

But you don't see the frustration and utter desperation in this indian stand. We're not surprised. Offence is sometimes the best defence but not always.

Pakistan high commissioner in India Mr Basit made a statement on Pakistan day on Kashmir. Indian Minister just retaliated. Follow the full news.

We must not make fun of what he's said. Instead, we need to take a note of Indian aspirations and do our homework. Cheap jokes don't make Pakistan stronger, we need to be serious and prepare our horses for the battles ahead.
