China doesn't have to worry one bit. Pakistan will always provide any kind of support as China has always stood with Pakistan in the most difficult times.

We'll provide a suitable reaction. First is a big middle finger to anyone who doubts our relationship and second China/Pak will always back each other. No matter what.

Agreed no harm in these facilities and cooperation BUT

may even extend to a small base.

I interpret this as a moment of self reflection for both sides. Despite Pakistan and China being nations with close relations, each other's comfort levels should be mutually respected. All terms of all relationships are negotiated through a process, explicitly and implicitly.

This thread is a personal piece by @Adam WANG SHANGHAI MEGA and I am not aware of official requests for basing in Gwadar by Chinese authorities. The context of this is the threat of America cutting off aid to Pakistan compounded with the current fiscal situation of Pakistan which increased sensitivity within some Pakistanis towards the need of funding for the nation which I can understand. China being the ally was seen as a potential source to make up for the funding gap.

Then came the article about VT-4 not being purchased by Pakistan and it was framed in such a way that money was the deciding factor. This caused some Pakistanis to be upset and pushing responsibility upon China and Norinco to fund sales to Pakistan because this is the supposed responsibility of an "higher than mountains" ally. China not providing VT-4 to Pakistan for free or at a major discount would be seen as a reason for "re-evaluation" of the relationship by some Pakistanis.

It was also justified by saying Pakistan would do anything within its ability to provide for China so China should do everything it can to reciprocate which includes covering costs of Pakistan's expenditures. Now this piece is meant to show that premise is not entirely reliable as Pakistan has its own way of doing things that are limiting as well. Each nation has a certain code of conduct for domestic and foreign policy that should be respected. @Adam WANG SHANGHAI MEGA thinks China needs a base in Gwadar but Pakistan has certain domestic policies regarding foreign bases despite China paying millions for its base in Djibouti (able to cover part of the fiscal gap in Pakistan even though American overseas bases are paid by its core allies) and some Pakistani members think China should give VT-4 to Pakistan for free or at discount. Each nation has different needs as seen by some members and the interpretation of a good ally would naturally differ on specific instances.

This doesn't show anyone is right or wrong, just shows that people shouldn't get overly emotional and reactive towards news, they should understand the choices of the other and pursue constructive dialogue. An ally isn't a nation that acts to your specific interests 100% of the time, no one does that, not even two people with the closest of relationships. Pakistan and China are countries independent countries with converging but slightly differing interests.
