What's new

Pakistan has as much a right to Nuclear Suppliers Group membership as India – if not more

Not so. Even with the all hostility, even now, India and Pakistan trade with each other. There is the mechanism of IWT. Both countries maintain diplomatic relations.

Membership in NSG is not about pitting India against Pakistan, but for both countries to peacefully acquire (or sell) civilian nuclear technology.

It's totally possible.
thats the way forward.both countries should go in together

The best thing that india can do is not to engage with Pakistan rather isolating it internationally, which is going on currently, Pakistan can never be beneficial for India, we have tried it earlier also by acting like a big brother but I guess they only do what the military wants them to do.

No we are not. We can get all that technology but illegally. Pakistan already has the capability to produce H-bombs, Fusion bombs and thermonuclear weapons since at least early 2011:

Saying we can't get the tech is lame indian lies and fantasies. It's just like pre-May 1998 when indians confidently & vehemently said that Pakistan would NEVER EVER become a nuclear weapons state with or without Chinese assistance. We know what happened to that indian fantasy and dribble and we all know what will happen to this one.
Tell me about the capability for peaceful purpose?. Don't give me false crap.

The controlled reaction is a problem even for China. Uncontrolled one makes the bomb.

The above source is genuine. It's not a Pakistani one but an American one. Read it in full and you will realize why the indian military could not attack Pakistan after mumbai 2008 :azn:

Don't beating around the bush. Those who have no substance look for other avenues.

I asked you about the peaceful use of nuclear energy, you are giving me mumbai. If you don't have a reply don't respond.

Pakistani experts believe that the country meets the criteria for NSG membership except that it is not the member of NPT. Pakistan’s credentials qualify it to become the member of NSG as Pakistan fully adheres to the requirements of the Convention on Nuclear Safety (CNS); Pakistan possesses separate nuclear operational and nuclear regulatory authority. All NPPs of Pakistan are under IAEA safeguards whereas eight nuclear reactors of India are outside IAEA safeguards and speedily creating weapons grade uranium too. Pakistan has strong nuclear export and control measures and never has to face any issue/problem in this regard. However, Pakistan needs to realize that NSG cannot approve the same criteria for both the NPT members and non-NPT member states. Nonetheless, it will be encouraging to engage the non-NPT nuclear states in the non-proliferation regime thus it is very important for Pakistan to be active engage with countries that are skeptical about its nuclear credentials.

About the bold part, as if Mr. A.Q Khan never existed.
Giving Pakistan membership to NSG is akin to giving a bank robber the key to bank vault.

" Nonetheless, it will be encouraging to engage the non-NPT nuclear states in the non-proliferation regime thus it is very important for Pakistan to be active engage with countries that are skeptical about its nuclear credentials"

That would include every country in the world including China, and good luck persuading the USA for membership.

Think you'll find the phrase is "stop beating around the bush".

Part of the CPEC initiative is to eventually make Pakistan reliant on nuclear energy to solve our energy shortage problems. Ground work which is already being done with the Chinese.

Thanks for answering the post and correcting me as well. We can continue our conversation.

Chinese don't even have a nuclear power of their own. They have kick started a research (3-4 years back) for the power plant that will be put in highly populated karachi. I hope all works well but their unproven tech can prove costly if it comes to nuclear energy.

Also under CPEC, pakistan will be getting only coal plants. That too the ones that will be moved from China. Hopefully that can solve the power situation in Pakistan but it will be an issue with the ratification of Paris agreement.

CPEC is a pervasive & all encompassing project that will morph and take many forms in the coming years/decades. One of those projects of the future is relying on nuclear energy.

dont be a sissy, its possible outcome would be Pak Bharat war.. People should be warn and reminded again and again especially if some big mouths of other side are doing war mongering 24/7..

Your hootiya defence minister said we will do a strike against Pakistan on our time and place of choosing, is it a responsible statement? Do you know its possible outcome? Your real strike [not fake one you did in your bollywood media] will be answred by a counter strikes from both sides and it can escaltate to a full blown war in which offcourse we will have right to shove our every weapon in our enemy's arse which also includes nukes..

Clearly Hindustan isn't ruled by hindu scums but Pakistan is definitely ruled by Islamic scums be it the elected government or the army.

no bhangi you are again mistaken, Nawaz Sharif is everything but Islamic..

but your PM belongs to hindutva scums and its not secret? dont your PM belong to Hindu supremacist party?

What I don't like is....India has, so Pakistan should have too. If Pakistan want to become a member of NSG, they should fight their cause based on Pakistan's merit and not piggyback on India to get into NSG.
