The government on Friday increased price of petrol by Rs25.58 per litre effect from June 26 in an early monthly review. The latest hike despite one of the largest in recent memory pushed petrol price to Rs100.10 per litre.

However, despite the latest rise in rate, petrol price in the country remain the lowest as compared to other countries in the region.

As per details, petrol prices in South Asia as of Saturday stood at PKR18086 per litre in India, PKR174.86 per litre in Bangladesh, PKR143.86 per litre in Sri Lanka and PKR143.31 in Maldives.

Furthermore, the price of petrol in Nepal stood at PKR131.62, and in Bhutan petrol was available at PKR108.40 per litre.

The government on Friday increased price of petrol by Rs25.58 per litre, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) sent the summary to Finance Division on the advise of the federal government.

In a statement, Finance Division says that the price of petrol has been increased from existing Rs 74.52 to Rs 100.10 per litre by Rs 25.58 or 35 percent increased. The price of diesel has gone up to Rs 101.46 from existing Rs 80.15 with an increase of Rs 21.31 per litre or 26 percent increased.

govt decreased oil prices in lockdown , and just as it ended.
because the consumption was 60% less

govt asked transporters to use 50 % less capacity of travellers,

which dint work

now as life resumed back to basic, govt is inscrease in oli prices.
because consumption is back to near normal

..the decrease was a false price decrease because everyone was sitting home,

how much is govt tax per litre?

The hike in the retail fuel prices in Pakistan involves a doubling of the tax levies, with petrol now selling with a petroleum levy of Rs 30 per litre, as against Rs 15 per litre.

If you have issue with Australia go compare yourself with India and Bangladesh. Every Country is facing similar circumstances so Pakistanis are not some Anookhay Ladlay of this planet. FYI Wheat price in Pakistan is much lower than International market same goes for other agricultural and consumeable products. The issue here is simple if you had no issues when Petrol went from 120 to 90 then you shouldnt have an issue with sudden rise as well. It cant be meetha meetha nam nam Karwa arwa thu thu.

Just giving sweeping statements, simply investigate whether such "MEETHA MEETHA NAAM NAAM" was available in Pakistan or not during June 2020 ?...Wheat is produced in Pakistan, and Pakistani people earn PKR, with average income of 15000 rupees. 300 rupee increase is huge amount, not to mention 200% increase vital life saving drugs...Just check the per capita income, inflation and interest rates of Bangladesh and India before comparing them with Pakistan.

Yes meetha meetha was definitely available in Pakistan and maximum benefit was transferred to populace. If you want to compare durring PMLN govt prices dropped to 25$ but they didnt even transfer a fraction of the benefit to people. India and Bangladesh are third world countries with similar economic circumstances so yes comparison is very much applicable here. As for wheat prices primary factor for increase was that farmers were being paid so less that they couldnt even cover production cost much less earn a profit from the crop. You can check the trend that many farmers moved away from wheat crop to others bcz they simply didnt think it was worth it. Just have a look at wheat production in last 5 years and you will get your answers. Wheat prices were increased so farmers can get paid enough to keep planting a crop which is vital for our survival. Per Capita Income, Inflation. Interest rates only work when you have developed country with accurate figures not a country where most of your economy is undocumented. As for pharma products Pakistani products were brought upto standard so that they can be made available for export. Our Pharma quality was one of the shitiest but yeah be happy that in low price you were taking something that was probably doing you more harm. With price increase quality of product was brought to international standards.

Like i said earlier Pakistanis are not some Anokhay Ladlay that you remain immune to global price fluctuations. Also i doubt anyone who earns 15000Rs wage actually owns a bike. Bikes and cars are a privilege of middle and upper class so stop talking like as if this affects low income households.
