Pakistan Getting MI 28 and Surface to Air Missiles from Russia?

SPADA i think is usa in few sensitive areas , but having mobile SAM system is ideal for protecting assets across the country

We did not induct a major SAM since 70's other the SPADA which was recent

Its about time we finally are about to get more SAM batteries for High Altitude protection

The missile battery looks very very similar to French Crotale system which Pakistan had or still has it.

FM90, is a chinese development of Crotale. South Africa, which adopted Crotale un der the name Cactus, has an upgrade, which allows the system to use the SAHV-3 missile, essentially combining the Crotale with the IR seeker of the Darter AAM and a better, high-performance engine. SAHV-3 was developed into Umkhonto, a VL missile in use on the Valour class Meko-A200 frigates..

S-350 Vityaz just has 40 km range. Similar to ly-80.
As I under stand, the S-350 system purpose is to replace the S-300PS and S-300PT-1A., and complement other systems including the Morfey, S-400 and S-500

Vityaz to replace S-300 air defense systems in 2014 - designer / Sputnik International

Compared to LY-80, it has double the number of missiles per launch vehicles, making the system better able to counter sustained attacks. And, it uses 2 types of missile, with different guidance modes, making the system less vulnerable to counter measures.

The 9M96 is a dual-role ‘hit-to-kill’ anti-missile and anti-aircraft missile originally designed for the S-400 system. The 9M100 missile . The smaller 9M100 is a short-range, IR-guided missile that can be used against aircraft, UAVs and cruise missiles and has been mentioned as both a SAM and an AAM.

Missiles
- 9M100,
- 9M96E or 9M96M

Range
- 9M100: 10 km max.
- 9M96E/9M96M: 1 - 40 km max.

Guidance system
- 9M100: inertial with IR
- 9M96E.9M96M: inertial with active radar terminal homing seeker

According to Almaz, Vityaz could replace older SAMs like the S-125 while adding multiple-target and anti-missile capabilities. According to information released in 2003, the system can be delivered in two configurations: a version optimised for protecting against high-precision weapons (cruise missiles, ARMs, smart bombs and tactical UAVs) able to simultaneous engage up to eight targets, and a multi-role version, in the former configuration the battery consists of a radar and up to four launchers with 32 "small" missiles each, while in the latter the heart of the battery is a mobile command post linked to up to two radars and up to eight launchers.

Uhm, that's also BUK....

If you had decision power to purchase system (for Pakistan) which you had gone for?
I'm leaning towards the very short range systems on the one hand, and longer range systems on the other. I like that 30mm gatling on 8x8, but there is also a nice truckmounted twin 35mm.

.
Which one Pakistan is getting please post with image and also which one we already have ?

.
Well to start with we should go two medium range Air Defence Systems with 12 batteries of each that mean 24 batteries and 24 MI-28 helicopters than slowly increase the number of Air Defence systems to 60

Tor-M2KM System : Engagement 12 KM - Radar detect range of 25-27 km,
ORD_SAM_SA-15_Radar_lg.jpg

Pantsir System : Engagement 20 kilometers - Radar detect range 32–36 km

SPADA System Range : 20 km (Mac 2)

It was stated that a plane (conventional 4th generation in 1975 reached an altitude of 105,000 feet approximately 31 km)

So I think the SAMs are general good , just the detection range for these units is around 0-45km regions

* Just for comparison the most modern SAM (T.H.U.D) that is being built has radar detection range of >200 km)

THUD?

The THAAD terminal (formerly theatre) high-altitude area defence missile system is an easily transportable defensive weapon system to protect against hostile incoming threats such as tactical and theatre ballistic missiles at ranges of 200km and at altitudes up to 150km.
The missile is 6.17m in length and is equipped with a single stage solid fuel rocket motor with thrust vectoring. The rocket motor is supplied by Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne. The launch weight is 900kg.
The cueing for the THAAD system is provided by the Raytheon Systems AN/TPY-2 ground-based radar (GBR) for surveillance, threat classification and threat identification. THAAD can also be cued by military surveillance satellites such as Brilliant Eyes.
The ground based radar units are C-130 air transportable. The AN/TPY-2 radar uses a 9.2m² aperture full field of view antenna phased array operating at I and J bands (X band) and containing 25,344 solid-state microwave transmit and receive modules. The radar has the capability to acquire missile threats at ranges up to 1,000km.
