I wonder why Pakistan is so bad at football, ~170 Million people but a football team which is shitty as hell, why's that?

because not even 1% has interest in football..........

but the interest is increasing day by day so you will find better team soon

I wonder why America is shitty at cricket. 300 million people but their team sucks. Same goes for Italy.

btw the people in Lyari,Karachi are mad skilled in Football they just don't get a chance.

Football is not generating revenue simple as that, I have seen really good players from pakistan. My neighbour played for pakistan u-19 for a while but latter gave up for some reason. He spent his child hood in spain and also played for real madrid u-15.

His brother was also a good player and this is how the u-19 coach does their selection.

Hi guys both of you play really good so one of you can be selected for the team so now its upto you guys which one of you will play.

You dont expect things to change like this.

Azzurri u r right very sad we dont have a good name in soccer
i know pakistanies r very talented and i dont think it is fields problem, it is mostly when u participate in international arena. Since i lived in saudia and saw how this team became a good team is international participation nothing else and then offcourse good technics should be adopted by the informed coaches.

Saudies had very good sporting clubs and very good local tornament but their national team didnot participate in big events. The had some british guy his name was jim hill ( hill academy ) he was the incharge to improve the saudi soccer structure. but in maybe 1976 or 77. he used to bring teams that will be easyly beaten by saudies. And when the went to internation tournament saudies performed very bad, they fired him and brought some other coaches ( mostly brazillians ) late 70's or beginning of 80 was the upward trend for the saudie national team eventhough they had local players earlier and the same players performed very well i remember those old guys my favourites
some years later they qualified for world cup eventhough they had a good chance to qualify for 1982 they were winning the chiness at the end of fist half 2-0 and lost the match 4-2, it was simple inexperience
i think we pakistanies can be in the world cup in 10 years and perform better then them

Now there is some kind of a tounament is going on which is sponsored by geo i guess some years if they continue some good ppl would come up and while this happens need a good coach and participate in events. No team can perform if they dont have experience of international events i saw pak national team they lacked in many fields but mostly is in the experience

i wish if i can see pak team in world cup ( a longtime wish ) since early 70's

well .... i am also at LOST when i thought about football future in pakistan. i started playing football 4 years ago. and still trying hard to fight for football with the authorities of our society . i am living in Askari X, lahore . which is under ARMY administration GHQ, and even here they have banned football ONLY, while there are usless courts for basketball, tennis, bedminton, volleyball, skating which anyone hardly uses. we have been arguing here with authorities from past 2 years ...but all invain. anyway, its my thesis year at NCA lahore so i wanted to do my thesis on FOOTBALL AWARNESS in PAKISTAN. will try to find problems and provide solutions to ensure a healthy awarness for football promotion. for that i need data regarding the PFF neglection, corruptions at govt level. the loop holes in promoting this all...... if anyone have any idea or refrence please let me know. will be helpful

The situation is very much like in India..although, in India things have changed for better within last 4 or 5 years....thing is the sub continent never focussed on football..we dont have a strong team from this part of the world..we have talent which need to be nurtured with proper infra...I am glad thinsg are changing very fast in India for football...infact we now have many worlc class academies..and also Liverpool is opening an academy in Delhi.

yes. that is the main problem . our govt don't feel responsible enough to start paying attention towards ONE OF THE MOST WATCHED and PLAYED game of the world. even America is getting to know its importance and now they are doing much much better. but our stupid members of PFF. nothing?? .....i still remember just this year on UEFA CHAMPION LEAGUE FINAL . every resturant every fast food had made offers and provided big screens to live telecast the final. now there we see how much people are crazy about FOOTBALLL here ..... the private sector knows how to sell things through football . and still govt have no idea how to get profit in this game ..... but only through corruption.
talent is out there ..... but never heard of a talent hunt of soccer ..... have been to couple of hunts for cricket .... but never for soccer .... what we do is only play till university level and then our CAREER starts .... due to so uncertainity here .... no body rsik enough to pursue football as career ....people do that for cricket and hockey too but not for football ...... I WANNA CHANGE THAT ..... i want to aware people ..... through my thesis..... and thanks MR TARIQ
