What's new

Pakistan Football News & Discussions - August 2022 .

I don't even know the Pakistani football players.
Long time ago , most of the team were comprised of Layari baloch. They used to run away whenever sent abroad for a tournament.
Used to be very embarrassing. Stopped following Pakistani football since then.
I hope this new generation of footballers is serious .

Guys, this was not a full-strength Pakistani team playing against Saudi Arabia. At best, this was our C team. Our main center back and best player, Easah Suliman, was injured. Etzaz Hussain, Adil Nabi, and McKeal Abdullah were supposed to join for round 2, but bureaucracy delayed their arrival. Their absence against a strong team like Saudi Arabia massively impacted us. We missed crucial defense, midfield control, and attacking power, leading to a significant struggle in maintaining a competitive edge in the match. If Hussain, Nabi, and Abdullah had been on the field, the team dynamics could have been drastically different. Their participation might have bolstered the team’s performance, showing a more competitive side of Pakistan against an Asian football powerhouse like Saudi Arabia.

Here's what our starting 11 should have been, highlighting the missed opportunity to showcase our full potential:

Pakistani football is currently undergoing significant changes. The new generation of players is bringing fresh talent and a more professional approach to the game. While it's unfortunate that bureaucratic issues still impact team selection, as seen in the recent match against Saudi Arabia, there's a growing sense of dedication and seriousness in the sport. I encourage you to give Pakistani football another chance. You might find that the landscape has shifted considerably, offering new reasons to follow and support our national team.

Jordan
Tajikistan

If this Pakistani Teams focuses and tries to get wins it is possible

Jordan , game is a 1 goal game , the goal can go either direction
Tajikistan is similarly a 1 goal game

But remains to be seen how the team will bounce back

2 goals in stoppage time - had they held on its only 2-0. You guys need to appreciate quite how limited Pakistani football is. The current team is punching above its weight.
If Easah Suliman had not been injured, it's likely the score would have remained close, possibly no more than 1-0 at stoppage time. Etzaz Hussain and Adil Nabi's involvement could have further tilted the odds in our favor, potentially leading to a draw. While Mckeal Abdullah, despite his youth and developing skills, could have added fresh energy to the match, the combined experience and talent of the team would have made a draw a realistic expectation.

We will be playing against Tajikistan tomorrow at Islamabad's Jinnah Stadium.

This is what our group table looks like right now:

In the second round, we have a total of six matches to play. We've already faced Saudi Arabia, leaving us with five matches. This includes tomorrow's game against Tajikistan, after which we'll have four matches left. Next year, we're scheduled for two matches against Jordan in March – one at home and the other away. Our last two matches in June will see us playing Saudi Arabia at home and finishing the group stage with an away game against Tajikistan.

The top two teams in our group will advance to Round 3 of the World Cup qualifiers. Teams finishing in the bottom two will no longer be in contention for a spot in the 2026 World Cup. However, there's a silver lining: even if we don't secure a top-two finish, we can still qualify for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

It was 2-0 till 90th minute. One of the two goals was off a penalty ..so they did fight.
In last few minutes they thought they were done.. and all good. lost control and conceded two more goals.
