Pakistan first to China’s table for HQ-9 (S300) , HQ-16 missile systems

I totally agree. There has also been an ambiguity about Pakistani hardware against good fighter with electronic suite. If Pakistan can actually give a fight ?

With this weapon and few hoax blow up trucks Pakistan can keep IAF guessing.

Pakistan does not show all weapons it purchase and all weapons are not purchased openly too, there are systems which have strategic effects and long range SAMS come into it. PA had FM-90 since some time and Indians were thinking that PA don't have SAM which can protect them beyond 10km, FM-90 provide them protection from PGMs too and working with other air defense systems PA can put a good fight on its own now even with out help of PAF.

It is also important that what Pakistan decide about Russian offer of providing SAMs for PA, will PA, PAF & PN go for any of those systems or they will prefer Chinese upgraded copies of those system? many of which now have AESA radars.

@HRK Actually the deal was only signed in late 2014 so that's not true
Delivery according to contract was to begin after 18-24 months.

Also Pakistan ordered 8 IBIS 150 radars (inferior version of IBIS 200).

@Basel
India has already inducted several Arudhra AESA radar with 400 km+ range.

You don't get it, talk is about SAM system equipped with AESA radars not just long rang radar and also it will be difficult for any jet to handle AESA radar which is guiding SAM to its target.

Saudis hasnt financed any defence procurements of Pakistan. We mostly procure high tech weapons on cash from america and europe. Whereas medium tech weapons fron china, mostly on loans.
Who said now Saudi Kingdom will pay ransom money for hit man role.

Abiut time.

There is a misunderstanding

Its an open secret now that PAF is currently in possession of HQ-9 and FD2000 batteries for quite some time, in fact this news was leaked on this very forum. The negotiations were in advanced stages to procure batteries for HQ-16, i think the newspaper is probably referring to that.

Are you 100% sure that we own HQ-9?

The HQ-18 refers to a derivative of the S-300 and is unrelated to the HQ-9 system; the article might have had a misprint.

Pakistan was the first country to start negotiations with China on the import of the HQ-9 medium to long-range active radar homing surface-to-air missile and the HQ-16 truck-based vertically launched surface-to-air missile, according to the April 2015 edition of Kanwa Defense Review.

It's not surprising that Pakistan is choosing the HQ-9 to arm its air force given that its early warning aircraft and the majority of its fighters are Chinese, according to the journal.

Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are also among potential customers for China's anti-aircraft missiles, possibly frustrating exports of Russia's S-300 series of long range surface-to-air missile systems, originally developed by the Soviet Union.

The report also said that China is planning to sell a range of equipment to Kazakhstan, including the Wing Loong or Yilong 1 drone.

At the beginning of the 20th Century, many of these former Soviet states exported weapons to China. Kazakhstan, for example, exported torpedoes, while Azerbaijan was formerly a major production base for Su-25 ground attack aircraft. China once received a Su-25 from Ukraine for research purposes. Now it seems the tides have turned and China is providing weapons for them, the report said.
