Pakistan eyes 1,000mw electricity from Iran

ISLAMABAD - Iranian Ambassador Ali Raza on Monday called on Ministry of Water and Power Secretary Muhammad Younus Dagha.


During the meeting, various ongoing and future energy projects came under discussion. While acknowledging the Iranian offer for export of electricity to Pakistan, Dagha said that both the countries were already working on the proposal, adding that modalities for 1,000 megawatts of electricity were in their final stages. He said that this phase can be readily executed.


It was agreed during the meeting that a high-level delegation would visit Iran shortly to negotiate and finalise power purchase agreement for 1,000 megawatts of electricity, which Iran offered to export to Pakistan. The Iranian ambassador emphasised that after the P5+1 agreement, Iran was keen to speed up power sector cooperation between Pakistan and itself. He said that Iran was ready to export 3,000 megawatts of electricity to Pakistan.


It was also agreed that the delegation would also discuss modalities for completion of feasibilities for additional 2,000 megawatts of electricity export to Pakistan, bringing the total to 3,000 megawatts.

Yup, I forgot that, but then what is d difference I mean if it's Gas or Electricity, why government says or care about US/UN sanctions over gas ?

who will pay for that electricity? Qesco line losses is about 40 % while recovery is 65 to 70 percent . No one can work like that .
