BaburCM, you have full right to disagree with somebody's point of view, but as I am not a MOD, I will suggest you as a fellow member of the forum, to please represent your disagreement with somebody in a positive way, that would be very helpful.:)

^^ I'm positive and straight to the point. I don't hide my feelings under the carpet just because some member disagrees with my point of view. Do you expect me to respond in a kind and soft manner? If you spew nonsense expect a solid response. Besides, you forgot to mention that Yank resorted to abuse. The Yank is obviously frustrated and annoyed by Pakistan's success in producing more nukes. Well, I got news for hilly billy. He can't do nada about it.

PS. I don't care one bit what others think.

hahahhaha all i can say banana republic good i like it. if u need banana we can export them to you so that u can give to 1.5 million people who migrated from swat. for freeee. india has become 2nd largest economy in asia by sellliing bananas hahahaaha. my immmotional pak friend iam happpy u think and care about indian pooor. who will think about urs. taliban or USA hahahah

You stupid Indian, the people that are fleeing from the fighting atleast aren't beggars that are living below the poverty line like in India. These are war victims and that's something totally different. In your country more than 600+ million people are treated worse than garbage. Those are some stats for you. Even animals have a better living standard in the Western world. Like I said, just feed the 600+ million people, shelter them and provide them with equal opportunities before making absurd claims. I'm not even joking. I feel bad for the people in your country. You live in a sick society that's ruled by an ancient caste system. You're in no position to point fingers.

What I find suspicious is who leaked this information? Or perhaps it wasn't leaked...I'm not sure.

I've heard satellite images were used to reveal such speculations and plans of Pakistan...However, I think it's very remiss, unhelpful and very unprofessional for the United States and especially Adm. Mike Mullen to be bringing this up in public and in front of an International audience (Pakistan's Nuclear expansion), I understand Congress and especially Gov. Weber of Virgina questioned him, but he should have said we can't comment on this right now...

Seriously what is the United States trying to do by releasing such reports? Anyone question there loyalty and interest?

It will be a spiral that pakistan will lose out in more so economically, and eventually hurting Pakistan. This is my take, if Pakistan is increasing nuclear arsenal, india will not stand by and in so doing will recipricate it's nuclear arsenal, and that will equate to money spending towards that program. Because india will reciprocrate Pakistan is forced to follow eventually draining more of it's funds towards it. Leading to mismangement of allocation of funds to where it needs the most. My 2 pennies on the subject.

India is already spending many times more on both conventional and unconventional military programs - and Pakistan will not be matching India dollar for dollar on either of them, just enough to maintain credible deterrence.

In terms of resources, the Khushab complex is almost complete, and will be sufficient in terms of providing the plutonium needed for the medium term, so the majority of the 'expense' is already out of the way.

Modernization into newer more advanced Plutonium based designs offers Pakistan several possible advantages:

  • Smaller & Lighter warheads may allow for increased range from existing ballistic missile delivery systems.
  • Smaller & lighter warheads may allow for multiple warheads on existing missiles leading to a MIRV capability.
  • More advanced plutonium based designs will offer a greater yield over similarly sized HEU based warheads, allowing for more 'bang for the buck'.

The MIRV capability especially will be necessary in maintaining a credible nuclear deterrent as India develops and bolsters its missile defence shield.

The timing of the ruckus raised over the expansion is interesting.

Albright and other analysts have been commenting on the Khushab complex for years now, so it isn't something new out of the blue. Once can assume the US military and intelligence knows even more about the program and far earlier.

Perhaps the US press needed another stick to bash Pakistan with since they can't argue 'inaction' against the Taliban for the time being.

AM

The U.S. now realizes that the politicians, in particular the PPP and ANP combine want to get their hands on the Khiali Palau ($$) in the worst way - and you hit the hammer on the head, regardless of whose dogs the Islamist terrorists are, they must be eradicated - but U.S may have bigger fish to fry - All good I suppose because we have little influence on the kinds of policies they wish to follow. ON THE HAND, Pakistan can exercise a small measure of persuasion by not engaging in the kinds of denials it seems to think are necessary for each and every bit of sillyness that emerges from U.S policy circles and media.

Trust me the sooner the Islmists are defeated in Pakistan, the sooner are exposed those who mask their failures in pointing fingers.

I think our country should forget about giving billions of dollars of military aid to Pakistan. Pakistan will be taken over by the Taliban, Al Qaeda or other Islamic extremists. It's time for us to go into Pakistan and snatch the nuclear weapons they possess.:usflag:

I heard these jokes in meida and paper. No one is going to get Pakistan nukes nither terrorists nor USA.
Some time I feel how can Americans think so foolish?

How can an illetrate person operate computers and get in and understand Nukes operartions?

Any ways American administration also accepts that Pakistan nukes are in safe hands so boy u dont need to worry

US confident Pakistan nukes secure: CIA chief

CIA director Leon Panetta said on Monday US intelligence officials did not know the exact whereabouts of all Pakistan's nuclear weapons but believed they were safe from the Taliban.

Speaking in Los Angeles, the Central Intelligence Agency chief said Pakistan's nuclear arsenal was "pretty secure" amid concerns that the weapons could possibly fall into the hands of Taliban insurgents.

"We don't have frankly the intelligence to know where they are all located but we do track the Pakistanis," Panetta said when asked if the US knew where Pakistan's nuclear weapons were located.

"Right now we are confident that the Pakistanis do have a pretty secure approach to trying to protect these weapons. But it is something that we continue to watch because obviously the last thing we want is for the Taliban to have access to nuclear weapons in Pakistan."

Pakistan forces have been locked in an offensive with Taliban fighters in the country for several weeks.

The fighting comes amid intense US pressure to crack down on militants in the northwest of the country which Washington says pose the most serious terrorist threat to the West.

Panetta was speaking at a luncheon hosted by the non-partisan Pacific Council on International Policy think tank in Los Angeles.

No linkage between US aid and nuclear program - State Department
WASHINGTON, May 19 (APP): Chairman US Joint Chiefs Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen on Monday said Pakistan has not diverted any US assistance to advance its nuclear weapons program as his remarks quashed apprehensions cited in an American newspaper report. The State Department also categorically stated that there was no linkage between the US aid and Pakistan’s nuclear capability.

The top US military officer also acknowledged that Pakistan has bolstered the security of its nuclear assets, saying it made use of American aid specifically targeted toward that end in the recent years.

“I am not aware of any US aid that has gone towards nuclear weapons, save that which is very focused in the last several years, last three or four years on improving their security, which is exactly what we would like. And they have done that,” he said in response to a question.

Mullen’s comments came after a story in The New York Times claimed that members of US Congress are concerned that Islamabad might divert US aid to it nuclear program.

Mullen, who spoke on wide-ranging security issues at a leading Washington think tank, also rejected characterizations that the key anti-terrorism partner somehow might near a failure. He said both civilian and military leadership in Pakistan is conscious of the extremism threat to their country and advocated a long-term US relationship with Pakistan.

At the State Department, spokesman Ian Kelly, advised against drawing “any links between the issues of our assistance package and their nuclear capability.”

“We shouldn’t connect these dots..Because this assistance package is for very specific purposes and we’re going to work very closely with the government of Pakistan for us to meet our joint goal...Of helping them re-establish stability. I don’t see necessarily a connection between the two,” he said.

“We’re going to work closely with Pakistan to make sure that the money is spent for the specific purposes that the US Congress had in mind,” he said at the daily brieing.

ISIS is reporting substantial progress on multiple sites.

Photos show Pakistan expanding nuclear sites: ISIS

WASHINGTON (updated on: May 19, 2009, 20:39 PST): Satellite photos released on Tuesday show Pakistan has expanded two sites crucial to its nuclear program as part of an effort to bolster the destructive power of its atomic arsenal, a US arms control institute said.

The commercial images reveal a major expansion of a chemical plant complex near Dera Ghazi Khan that produces uranium hexafluoride and uranium metal, materials used to produce nuclear weapons, said analysts at the Institute for Science and International Security.

At a site near Rawalpindi, photos suggest the Pakistanis "have added a second plutonium separation plant adjacent to the old one," the ISIS report said.

Pakistan in recent years also has been building two new plutonium production reactors, it said.

"All together, these recent expansion activities indicate that Pakistan is indeed progressing in a strategic plan to improve the destructiveness and deliverability of its nuclear arsenal," the report said.

The expansion would enable Pakistan to build smaller, lighter plutonium-fission weapons and thermonuclear weapons that employ "plutonium as the nuclear trigger and enriched and natural enriched uranium in the secondary," it said.

The satellite photos follow confirmation from the top US military officer, Admiral Mike Mullen, on Friday that Pakistan was expanding its nuclear arsenal.

Mullen on Monday said US assistance to Pakistan was not being used by Islamabad to bolster its nuclear weapons program.

Given turmoil in Pakistan with the army waging war against Taliban militants in the northwest, the ISIS said the "security of its nuclear assets remains in question."

"An expansion in nuclear weapons production capabilities needlessly complicates efforts to improve the security of Pakistan's nuclear assets," it said.

The institute urges the US government to persuade Pakistan to halt production of fissile material and join talks for a treaty that would ban the production of plutonium and highly enriched uranium.

"As an interim step, the United States should press both India and Pakistan to suspend any production of fissile material for nuclear weapons," it said.

Pakistan has roughly 60 to 100 nuclear weapons that can be delivered by attack aircraft and ballistic missiles, the report added.
