ISLAMABAD: In a toughened up stance, Pakistan on Tuesday expressed disappointment over the US Afghan policy which it said “ignores the enormous sacrifices rendered by the Pakistani nation” urging Washington to work with Islamabad against terrorism “instead of relying on false narrative of safe havens.”

The hard-hitting statement came as initial reaction from the Foreign Office in response to US President Donald Trump’s recently announced Afghan policy that aims at targeting Pakistan to ‘do more’ in its counterterrorism drive.

“No country in the world has done more than Pakistan to counter the menace of terrorism. No country in the world has suffered more than Pakistan from the scourge of terrorism, often perpetrated from outside our borders. It is, therefore disappointing that the US policy statement ignores the enormous sacrifices rendered by the Pakistani nation in this effort,” the statement came following a crucial cabinet huddle with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi that discussed the issue.

“As a matter of policy, Pakistan does not allow use of its territory against any country. Instead of relying on the false narrative of safe havens, the US needs to work with Pakistan to eradicate terrorism.”

Trump tough talk unlikely to move Pakistan

It said: “Pakistan reiterates its view that there is no exclusive military solution to the crisis in Afghanistan. The military action during the last 17 years has not brought peace to Afghanistan, and it is not likely to do so in the future. Only an Afghan-led, Afghan-owned politically negotiated solution can lead to sustainable peace in Afghanistan.”

The statement added that the threat to peace and security could not be isolated from the complex interplay of geopolitics, continued existence of festering disputes and pursuit of hegemonic policies. Non-resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains the primary obstacle to peace and stability in the region.

What are you going to tell ? We are going to support the Taliban whether anyone likes it or not.

How about "This rhetoric that the world's most powerful military force with the most advance technological surveillance system is unable to win against a rag tag bunch of militants is due to Pakistan's support for them is getting old and needs to be revised"

tells you only one thing, do not sit in someone's lap and think this is love, no it was lust

. .
thats the thing current lot in power in Pakistan don't have the balls. We need someone like Duterte.

you can tell that to Obama. trump is a little too unpredictable. not that he would do anything rash

Pakistani politics is complete joke. Why don't b52 bombers first get rid of these chakkay Pakistani politicians.

Trump's voice is not the voice of Americans. Even the US military would focus on having good alliance with Pakistan. Not to confuse entire US military by few trump's appointed representatives.

Pakistan is the only country in the world that have sacrificed tremendously due to terrorism. The same terrorism that was once used by US and EU against Soviets and they left poor Pakistan to deal with it. Instead of fooling American public, Trump administration should focus on having proper strategy on Afghanistan, this clownliness is not working.

Whether we support Taliban or not we will never allow India to dominate Afghanistan. Not in next one million years at least. Even if we have to NUKE India we will do it.

Trump knows it already. He hasnt opened his mouth since North Korea threatened a nuclear strike on Guam. Dogs like trump will keep barking only as long as we have weak leadership like PMLN.

This indian agent Nawaz Shareef didnt appoint a foreign minister in 4 years at a time when Pakistan was a target of International conspiracy by US, India and Israel. History will never forgive this SOB.

.
I heard Americans are going to release the names or army officers who are dealing and supporting taliban with clips .

.
The writing was on the wall all along idiots. We are led by bunch of morons.

Where is the toughness in this statement? It's the same apologetic stance of weaklings.

It's like the Pakistani foreign ministry has the same template that it always uses. Just change the date and name & send it to the press. Abject incompetence. These sorts of statement insinuate that pakistan is guilty of the allegations leveled against it. Makes an entire country of 200 million seem like a teenage boy trying to get into the good graces of his elders. Extremely shameful stuff.
