Islamabad, June 1 : Pakistan considers the development of IT and telecommunication sectors vital for the country's growth, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said.

Gilani was speaking Tuesday at the 24th board meeting of Universal Service fund.

The IT and telecommunication sectors, he added, had the potential to create many jobs.

Gialni noted that Pakistan earned around USD 1.4 billion through IT related exports annually, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.

He said more than 1,000 IT companies, including 60 international ones, operated in Pakistan.

Pakistan has a potential to export US$ 10 billion of IT services world wide i think. 1.5 billion is peanuts.

Pakistan has the potential to do well in IT & BPO, but instability and power shortage are major hindrances....It these problems addressed there will be lot of scope for employment for educated youth of medium merit...(Higher merit people should be in more sophisticated jobs like research, R&D etc)
