ISLAMABAD, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Unconfirmed news from intelligence sources said on Monday that five Pakistan Taliban ( TTP) leaders were arrested Monday morning in the Gorvait area of North Waziristan by NATO forces and later taken away by two NATO helicopters to Afghanistan.

According to the sources who asked to remain anonymous, the action was taken by the NATO forces without informing the Pakistani government. If so, this is another Abbottabad-like operation taken by the foreign forces on the Pakistani soil without the knowledge of the Pakistani side.

Political agent of North Waziristan also confirmed the news.

So far, there is no official report about the Monday morning's operation taken by the NATO forces in North Waziristan, a tribal area in northwest Pakistan, which is believed to be a stronghold of militants in the country, who often launch attacks on the NATO forces in Afghanistan across the border.

On May 2, the U.S. forces conducted a raid in Pakistan's northwestern city of Abbottabad, during which the former al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden was killed in his compound. As the U.S. side did not inform the Pakistani side until the raid was over, it led to a strong protest from the Pakistani side as Pakistan considers the unilateral action taken by the United States has seriously violated its sovereignty.

These are the dodgy things that make one question the intentions of NATO/US sitting across the border in Afghanistan.
This has been the case since the beginning of the conflict that those militants who have been targeting Pakistan have been left alone and even sheltered and protected by the Americans as probably is the case here , that they moved in to save their assets

So long as Nek Muhammad was fighting the Pakistani Army he was left alone but as soon as he stopped he was killed by drone attack.
They released Abdullah Mehsud under some shady deal done at Guantanamo and he turned up in Pakistan to do terrorists attacks, mere coincidence?! I think not

There are also instances where they were courting extremists like the Jordanian who killed the CIA station chief, once that Jordanian had killed the CIA chief and later his video emerged with Hakimullh Mehsud only then the drones targeted Hakimull h Mehsud before that he too was left to do his dastardly deeds against Pakistan out in the open.

The militants are no doubt enemies of Pakistan but let’s not kid ourselves that these are only enemies we have.
We have to look at the broader picture , the facts are right before us.

Looks Propagandists, ISLAM no sir .... Pakistan can not be islamic state anymore. Stop fooling pakistanis. there will be consequnces to this operation but we need to watch for that. Good Good n Good for only targeted ops.

Your a journalist are you not Jana? Surely you can give some proof of what your saying rather then repeat hearsay?

Has the US media ever provided proof for any of its own allegations against Pakistan? Most of that is 'hearsay' (i.e unsusbtantiated US intelligence reports ala WMD's in Iraq).

Ask Pakistan for evidence when you can get your own side to provide it.

American military is busy with 2 wars. USA knows that when they want it, they will get it. It may be the time to wind up operation in Afghanistan.

So they 'want it' after ten years, and even then all we have is an unconfirmed media report?

And I thought Hillary and Mullen did not look too happy at the press conference when they left Pakistan ....

The American 'Airlift of Evil' ...

The US and Afghans sheltered one of the most wanted Baluch terrorist leaders in luxury in Kabul for years (per their own wikileaks records), so this does not come as a surprise.

Two other major terrorist leaders, Qari Ziaur Rehman and Mullah FM from Swat, are already being protected by the Afghans and US in Eastern Afghanistan.

Just look at the sheer numbers of terrorist leaders being sheltered by the US in Afghanistan.

What I see in this article and subsequent searches. Is one news source being quoted numerous times. The article quotes intelligence sources, but seriously why would intelligence sources speak only to a Chinese news organization on such a major raid? Not only that but to nab not just 1 but 5 Taliban leaders. Taliban leadership travel with security and times that by 5 and you have a major resource operation with most likely a large amount of resistance. Such an operation would have drawn a lot more public scrutiny.

Sorry not buying into the story. Sounds like Chinese tabloid gossip.

1. why would officials talk to one new agency ? because that one would have contacted the sources.

2. for the bold part. operation??? who said its like an operation ? it was simple picking up your groupies easily airlifting them and thats all. no public scrutiny. you dont know the area thats why you are talking about public scrutiny.

3. the Political agent had confirmed the incident

anyway when was the last time your media had not quoted "sources" and came up with specific names?

They had abolished all check posts last year at Afghan Side of the border last year when Pakistan started Bajaur operation and operation against TTP terrorists in tribal areas . Many of these terrorists were facilitated by NATO to cross over into AFghanistan for safety.

2. The TTP-al-qaeda groupie Mangal Bagh has also fled to Afghanistan and currently there.

3. BLA terrorists are in Afghanistan with help of India

Any link to proof. I don't think BLA needs any Indian support. Some area's of pakistan are not on its control.

:) some areas in India are also not in control of India but Maoists ;)

anyway what proof you need .

A quick warning to some posters - there are terrorist groups in NW, TTP and others, so criticizm of any military operation should not be attached with denigrating the Pakistani military. They are doing their job.

One can argue the pros and cons of a military operation at this point in time, but unless a convincing case can be made that such an operation would specifically target innocent civilians, please refrain from generalized criticizm of the military.

Well done Agnostic Muslim!! Dont mind, I see no major difference between you and Mumtaz Qadri. Kill the one you dont agree with.

There is a major difference - Salman Taseer was not training suicide bombers and carrying out terrorist attacks across Pakistan against 'conservative Pakistanis'. The terrorist organizations in NW are doing that, as are the terrorist organizations in Punjab, Sindh and Baluchistan.

They are murderers, barbarians and criminals, not merely people with 'different opinions', and therefore they should either surrender and stand trial for their crimes, or be eliminated.

If they merely are 'people with a different opinion' then they can form a political party and try and convince Pakistanis to vote for them and their platform of religious intolerance and then ammend the constitution when they have enough seats.
