Pakistan defies US, honors Iran gas deal

Decade will be too late - I think pipeline will go to China and i don't think Chinese industrial complex will leave anything of India

Dude..its all matter of money...If after a decade our next generation want to leave behind the baggage of bad indo pak relation, then i think economics will drive all the relation. Iran will have no problem in case the number of buyers increase and the same way Pakistan wont mind in getting the transit fees from India and Pakistan without doing anything...This will be a win win for every one....In 1980's did any one in Pakistan thought than Pak will have to fight with US or Russia and Pak can be closer to each other?...So in this way i feel time is a great factor..

.
If we consume all gas than isn't it a positive sign? :what:

I would choose to believe Dr Noor ul Haq's report which states there will be sufficient.

I think Iranian, Chinese, Pakistani and Indian governments know. they wouldn't be considering this for so long if there wasn't sufficient oil/gas

My post have nothing to do with hate/money, As you can see the China is financing this pipeline and obviously they also need gas to fuel their industry and if you read post of VC probably Pakistan will be consuming all the gas by 2020.

Hmmm.... In either case if we will be consuming all gas this mean that our economy will be running like horse. and if there will be enough gas than we will be earning transit. either way it's in favor of Pak

.
The price agreed upon for the moment i.e. 80 percent of the oil price, may not be as low as initially bargained for. But in the absence of alternatives this appears to be the most feasible offer. With oil prices falling as they are these days, Pakistan should benefit

http://ipripak.org/factfiles/ff124.pdf

But I think once its built probably India and if not India China will join and Pakistan will benefit from transit fees

thank you brother I am pleased you found it interesting and useful

There are tight gas reserves(reserves with difficult exploration) if we invest the same amount to explore them then we may not need iran gas and Actually a polish company has already tapped a reserve will come in line in March 2012.
secondly if we improve law and order situation in Baluchistan then we can get 500 million CFT gas in just one year.although these will not be enough but we should use our own resources. This expensive gas will spoil our Coal project. On one side we do not have money for thar Coal on other side we are going to invest for import, what a policy:pakistan:

1. We can keep exploring our reserve - and i think it's better to consume others resources first :D
2. We can average out our energy cost by having mixture of sources i.e. coal, gas, hayd etc., we can't fulfill all our energy needs from just thar coal

I agree but i suggest you read the source i have provided which is from an academic expert on the matter. The source cheng has provided was from a journalist who appears to have an axe to grind with Musharaff. Not only that but if you look at most of the comments on that article they are wandering where the journalist got those figures from. All I can say to you that Chinese and Indian governments would not have mulled over this pipeline for so long if it was going to be a no goer and they must have had better figures one assumes than some jourmalist.

You are right governments of three countries are not that much stupid, but i don't think bharat will join after getting nuke deal

Brother just watch long time they wont have a choice. Their need for oil/gas is great. economy will bring peace

Well, you tell me if these figures mean anything positive to you, from the same source:

Even with BOTH IP and TAP built, Pakistan will still be short 2 billion cfd by 2020.

I think we know where this excessive demand comes from. With the rise of CNG kits, the demand for gas inside Pakistan has risen exponentially. Which has depleted gas needed for industry. If there is a shortage, it might be a good thing, as it will result in people shifting from CNG to better alternatives.

.
I know this is a bit off topic but Pakistan has nuclear knowledge why they dont go for Nuclear energy? Is it a cost issue?

Never!!!! May God forbid that we would ever have to rely on that, after what happened in Japan we shouldn't even be looking to invest in that danger.

Wind energy and solar energy should be amongst top priority.

Solar is very expensive - i think we can't afford it at this point. However we should speed up our work on coal and also start building small and large dams which are very much over due and will serve dual purpose.
