Pakistan Closes Border with Afghanistan Again

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Army has announced to close the Pak-Afghan border in order to streamline the border management system, local media reported.

On March 20, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had ordered the immediate reopening of Pak-Afghan border that was closed in the aftermath of a recent string of terror attacks in the country.

In his statement, the Prime Minister had expressed that the border was being reopened as a goodwill gesture. He hoped that Kabul administration would address the grievances cited for the closure of border.

The border at Torkham had been closed on February 16 after a suicide bomber ripped through devotees at Lal Shehbaz Qalandar shrine. Afghanistan-based Pakistani Taliban faction Jamaat-ul-Ahrar had claimed responsibility for major attacks in the country.

It's either they close it permanently or the better choice, for Pakistan army to create a buffer zone like turkey did in Syria.

@H!TchHiker You see it wasnt the army that opened the border, it was NS. This is what i was debating with you the other day that Nawaz policy of conflict with security institutions of Pakistan in an attempt to look like a boss is whats causing us our downfall. He does not care how many people loses their lives in the process. Army wasnt in the mood to open the border but it was under his order that it was opened only to result in another terrorist attack inside Pakistan and responsibility accepted by none other than Afghanistan based group.
Now i can guarantee you that another order for immediate reopening of border will soon come.

so instead of creating a secure check point, i mean 1 single check point and to do operation against terroist in punjab and FATA(both controlled by PML N)we simply close a boarder
how logical is it to close a single life line boarder point, terrorist will not come through torkham boarder, they are going to come through lesser known passing points

this is just to punish afghan and people of KPK by destroying their econmy
