A Pakistani Christian group called on their government Sunday to allow Christians to go on pilgrimage to religious sites in Israel.

There are no formal diplomatic ties between the two countries and Pakistan forbids its citizens from going to the Holy Land.

All Pakistani passports state, “This passport is valid for all countries of the world except Israel”.

Under Israeli law, Pakistan is a designated an enemy state and Israeli citizens may not visit there without a special permit issued by the Israeli Interior Ministry.

God’s Peoples Fellowship of Pakistan (GPFP), a Karachi-based Christian organization, which seeks diplomatic ties with Israel, staged a protest on Sunday outside the Karachi press club to demand the lifting of the travel ban on Christian Pakistanis to Israel.

“People of different religions particularly Sikhs of India come to Pakistan every year to perform their religious obligations despite the fact the two countries have fought three wars,” Ashraf P Butt, Secretary-General of the GPFP, said.

“Since Pakistan doesn’t recognize the state of Israel and does not maintain any diplomatic ties, the Christian community in Pakistan has been deprived of their legitimate religious rights,” he told ucanews.com.

“In light of the Bilateral Protocol Agreement signed between India and Pakistan in 1974, granting permission to visit religious shrines and sites, the GPFP also demands the same arrangements for Christians,” he said.

He criticized the Supreme Court for dismissing a GPFP petition seeking a lifting of the ban out of hand.

“We deem Bethlehem, Jerusalem, the holy city of King David, the Skull place where Jesus Christ was crucified, Nazareth, Galilee and other such places sacred,” Butt said.

Pervaiz Khan, a pastor, said Christians are only asking for the rights to visit holy places in Israel.

“When Muslims can freely go to Mecca and Medina for pilgrimage, why can’t we exercise our religious obligations guaranteed by the constitution of Pakistan,” he said.

It aint happening at-least in my lifespan
May be, may be no.
If someone else did what Musharraf was doing, then may be yes. But that person has to be strong enough to show some balls to Saudi Arabia and no politician of this time can do that. So may be no.
But I think Imran will try to do something or may be army will come to power and someone good enough will try it again. So may be yes.

I bet these "christians" are funded by foreign christian missionary organizations that fund these local christians, train them..and then in return these christians spread Christian religion, make things more "friendly" for western interests, and demand certain political rights to make the countries of their residence to become more in line with over-all Western agenda.

Shame on these christians. First they burn alive two Pakistani men when TTP attacked one church (How many people Muslims burnt when TTP attacked our mosques again and again and again?!!!)..and now this?!

These christians should know that they are Pakistani FIRST, and then "christians" or "slaves of Western masters" to be precise.

Our state needs to put them in their place..

on this protest: The strangest demand by strangest protesters. Something is behind it.

Anyway It is Time Israel and Pakistan must start diplomatic relation. This is in my personal opinion one of the steps that would help in bringing stability to ME. Rather it will be a good start for improving image of Israel though Pakistan will be under knife but still in the long run would be good for both. Still this is my personal opinion and you guys can differ or challange it

Actions speak louder than certificates.

We are all watching their actions.

And the world is watching yours so make a move.

And yes ,they are Pakistanis but Pakistan's conflict with Israel is strictly a muslim problem and christians don't have to support muslim butthurt when it comes to Palestine so they're in no way obliged to be forbidden pilgrimage to their holy places.

Pakistan's stance on Israel is based in International Law and U.N resolutions. Israel is occupying Palestine and hence Pakistan has every right to cut-off ties from a barbaric state that is breaking all conventions of 21st century and mudering/colonizing helpless people of Palestine.....ignoring all calls of world community via UN resolutions.

Christians are free to go to pilgrimage there. They can leave Pakistan, migrate to India, and go to Israel...........and never return to Pakistan. That'll be cherry on top.

On that note, European countries should make even better arrangements for tens of thousands of Muslims that go to hajj pilgrimage every year. :)

Yes but for Christians to visit Israel Pakistan must recognize the state of Israel and establish relations with it

.
Israel for the time being is not a safe place for Pakistanis, irrespective of their religion. And secondly it is a racist society, they hate Christians and our's are black too, so no for their own safety big no, because we care for our citizens.

Case closed. Next.
