I would have agreed with you had you not shown your biased views by putting the military in brackets...Mind you even today Military was 1st and ONLY one to respond to Karachi...Your lovely CURRENT govt felt no shame in abandoning the largest city which is under their best pal whom they forgave for some puppy love or favours when they take over....This is worse than anything any military people did....

Military is a security organization. It is SUPPOSED to respond to serious threats in the country. In the US, every time there is a serious issue such as floods, or law enforcement issues, etc, the Governor of the state in question will call the National Guards. So there is nothing "abnormal" here. The President of the US or all the senators don't rush to these flood zones, its the National Guard who gets to the catastrophic events and saves more lives.

It is stupid to even think that a country's president or the prime minister would leave the entire country's issues and run to a small flood or a heat wave and all, as they have a country to run with much more issues around them. If this was God forbid, an event like 911, then it makes sense. So clear your head about how governments or military organizations respond to certain chaotic situations.

Also, in Pakistan, (thanks to the military YET again), the military is also the most modernized organization with VAST resources and equipment at its disposal. Had these been a civilian government in place (a real, truthful one, working like the current team), you'd have seen your fire respondents, hospitals and ambulances to be able provide help and relief to people sick with heat strokes. But as the military has run the country for like 6 decades, the civilian institutions didn't grow and ONLY the military grew. So, as a result, military is called everywhere. 10 years from now, and it the democratic system isn't sent to hell by some macho generals, you'll see civilian institutes taking shape. These heat strokes and the likes, are really a responsibility of the local fire dept. and first respondents like Ambulance units, or even mobile doctor / hospital units. But a real system was never developed or allowed to be developed.

The generals from the military don't have economy, stock market and business background. They know how to fight, and kill. Not how to negotiate or provide better lifestyle for common average citizen. In fact, these guys are trained in the harshest environments that they become unemotional to common person's pain as they are tough themselves. So majority of the time, they don't even understand the pain a common person goes through if there is no food. But to them, they are trained to remain starved for three days so it should be the case for everyone.

Before you or anyone takes offense to my post, re-read it again a few times and see my points. You can't bring a boxer to labor unit in a hospital and imagine he'd feel for the pain a woman is going through delivering a baby. To him, pain is a part of a daily routine when he trains for boxing. For the woman in pain, she's probably never felt that much pain in her entire life. Similarly, the tough soldiers by design are trained to remain touch and in harsher environments. They don't understand the issues a common person, or a country's economy or a country as a whole feels. Its the civilians whether rich or poor, who understand that due to their background and they are the ones who take the country forward (but they have to be doing work and making efforts for the country).

1) Water, Ambulances, etc, etc are a state's local government's responsibility. A PM or whoever, can't just by pass the entire system and jump in there with a parachute. You have to go through the chain of command and if you don't see it working, you try to add critical components to make it work. Adding the military in Karachi was JUST that step.

The military was "TOLD" to go there. They aren't all Jesus Christ, waiting to heel the wounded without orders. So try not to insinuate that the military went to cure all evil with the love of God in their mind. They were asked to do a job and they did it well as always. Nothing more to it, that's what they signed up to do, to protect the country and its people. That's why the benefits and pay and all. Every country gives more benefits to military personal than ordinary citizens.

2) Lahore wasn't hit by floods last year, but NS and SS were in MANY places hit with flood, all the way to the border of Sindh, South and Northern Punjab. There are many threads on here with pictures. Mind you, this was a time when innocents had lost cities and town due to flood and hundreds of thousands were stranded. BUT, people like IK, were holding a dance and drink revolution party which used to start after 12 PM and wold go till the morning. Need I say more???

3) Check your facts and biases before silly posting. You should go above and beyond your personal and political agenda to talk about a country and a nation!

I didnt see this chain of command when Noonis issued orders from court which challenged them.....however, the chain of command seems to be never ending when it is against the Noonis or their friends.... NOW THAT IS A FACT!
