Pakistan Caught In The Middle As China’s OBOR Becomes Saudi-Iranian-Indian Battleground

.
I think Pakistan, rather than Iran, should be more concerned about 'another' hostile neighbour.

Pakistan is never short on manpower, Saudis and US are not short of resource, think about consequence, the other hostile state in east is choked , they cant make proxies in east, they cant take military action in east, all they can do is whining..

seriously you should consider it when you utter such nonsense,

do you want me to talk about Afghanistan as well.. i dont think its even state.

Pakistan does not want any nonsense war with Iran to begin with. but you should not perceive it as weakness.

"....world’s second largest Shiite Muslim community"

Is there any proof that Pakistan is home to second largest shia community?

.
What would it take for Iran to side more closely with Pakistan/China and distance itself from India?
Why should Iran be closer to any side to begin with? We have excellent relations with China, we have good relations with India and we have had good relations with Pakistan, except some ups and downs. The thing is, Pakistanis can't take it that Iran can also have good relations with India, we should only declare war on India so that some people are pleased.

We won't take any sides, and the same way we don't ask Pakistan to cut relations with Saudis (and we have been hit a lot by Saudi-Pak realtions and the virus that Saudis injected into Pakistan), we won't listen to Pakistan on how we should have relations with India, and vice versa, India can't dictate us how we should treat Pakistan. You are the one who always says interests matter first, right?

We can have excellent relations with all three countries at the same time and except some minor obstacles, we don't have substantial problems with either of countries.

The funny thing is, Pakistan's Arab allies have bigger and better realtions and trade with India, but why blame them? They are Arab 'brothers' after all, they are holy, only Iran is the devil here.

i think census will break this myth as well.

i think its otherwise on official level. why your ambassador have to issue statement against Pakistan joining Saudi Alliance against terrorism? never saw any Pakistani official ever objected on your dealing with bharatis.

As @Serpentine already said, why should we distance ourselves from any of these 3 countries? Iran is not involved in the rivalry between these countries, nor do we have any intention to do so. Frankly, Iran regards friendly relations with all 3 of these countries very important. China has a huge economy and its political interests wrt the US align with Iran's. I have always advocated strategic partnership with China. As for India, there is a deep cultural history between our two countries, and India has quite a large economy and imports a lot of our oil. Pakistan is a Muslim neighbour who we provide a lot of energy to, its best to have good relations with neighbours, especially when there is trade between them.

The reason for Iran to downgrade relations with India wouldn't be because of anything Pakistan or China do per se (you can't really "buy" a country's foreign relations, at least for an independent country like Iran), it would have to be some sort of monumental change in India's actions towards Iran. They would have to be overtly anti-Iran, on par with American or Israeli levels...

The exact same case as above goes for Pakistan and China.

I don't think that is likely.

issue statement against Pakistan joining

Issued statement against it? That's strong worded, can you provide a proof? Or did he just say Iran has its reservations about this alliance and Pakistan joining it? It means Iran neither approves nor rejects this.

what reservation means? who is he to publically express reservations? did Pakistani ambassador shows any reservation publicly in your country, you are comparing a defence forum with actual diplomacy to feel good..

Iranian state involvement in Pakistan is not hidden from anyone, you can easily find Iranian funded fanatics in Pakistan with pics of Khomaini and Khaminie protesting on anything related to Pakistan and GCC, i have yet to see anyone protesting in Iran with Pakistani flags when you deal with our enemy.

zanibyoon is you another openly hostile filthy move. yet you are whining about hostile Pakistanis on PDF.

Its simple for Pakistan

Pakistan for too long cared too much for others then ourselves, we automatically took in millions of afghans rather then let them perish regardless of historic emnity with the Afghans and all to our own detriment

We are not too concerned about economic relations we hate india to the extent where we want them buried but we understand economy and business are required for a country's own well being

However with the GCC and beyond we have a range of political and security arrangements far exceeding anything india has and as this islamic alliance progresses on path the hope of it evolving on a NATO line where the member states will share and plan together regarding threats including india is part of Pakistan’s planning for the future alongside its security arrangements with china and turkey

We dont care about any economic relations iran has with anyone but chabahar where our mortal enemy is allowed access to the back of Balochistan is a statement of intent from iran (regardless of promises to keep indians on a leash)
It shows Pakistan that iran cares nothing for Pakistan's security and in such a situation Pakistan has no choice but to secure itself

.
Just to update Iranians here. India has significantly cut down their oil imports from Iran. About 25% oil imports have been pulled back and further downgrade is expected inbetween Indian Iranian economic relationship moving forward as UAE is wooing Indians with major investment in real estate sector.

Maybe a reporter asked him to express his opinion about Pakistan joining the alliance? He has every right to say Iran neither approves nor rejects it.

.
Anyways both Iran and Pakistan cannot afford to have hostile relationship against each other on the behest of Saudis or else. After the capture of Indian Raw agent, Pakistan felt a little betrayed. Iranis needs to address our concern as well rather than blaming our govt for issues w.r.t Pakistani border management.

.
For pakistan to back an insurgency inside iran would be a poor strategic decision. They already do this with afghanistan and this results in a hostile border tying up large numbers of troops, why would you want to open a third front with Iran..its stupid.Saudis are thousands of miles away,Iran is next door.

Good to hear that! Beijing is in fact very nervous about increasing tension between Iran and Saudi, given China has significant if not the most vested interests in the region, not to mention those busy maritime trade routes passing through the Arabian Sea. Take Iran as an example, Chinese vested interests in the country already far exceeds that of EU for quite some years, across a wide range of sectors from infrastructure, energy to manufacturing.

The thread title says well, the multi-trillion dollar OBOR co-prosperity sphere very much depends on Pakistan, Saudi and Iran. Hope all sides can calm down and face the fundamental challenge to global security, threats that originated from neocon banking-military oligarchs situated far away.
