USS cole was not attacked in Pakistan, if you want to compare incidents at least know the history of how the USS Cole was actually attacked... Jeez!

The point is that small boats laden with arms or explosives can cause massive damage, whether to a USN ship or an INS ship or shore installation, or to the civilians of a city like Mumbai. That the USS cole incident did not happen in Pak is about as relevant as stating that the USS Cole had a different color than IN ships.

So if a boat tries to evade ICG or IN patrol crafts, we would rather take hostile action then and there, than wait for another 26/11.

And if the crew of the pursued boat detonated themselves, it is well within the bounds of reason to believe that they were not merely diesel smugglers, but probably fidayeen units.

From their POV, maintaining operational secrecy is more important than credibility. Whether the public believes them or not is not the priority of intel agencies - succesfully thwarting terrorists, and keeping their modus operandi secret is. Unlike politicians, they do not need to pander to popular opinion or public relations.

From September, almost no information is sent to the Indian Media. It is an open secret that Indian media houses are thoroughly infiltrated. Security details were divulged shamelessly in Kargil, the Mumbai attacks etc etc. This Government is not taking its chances. Especially Doval has taken a hard stance on the Official Secrets Act.

So the media is only speculating and building castles in the air. The only trustworthy reports are from the Press Releases. Their view is consistent.


He was a very distinguished morally upright officer in the Mil.Int. He was investigating a group per orders and no allegations against him could be proven by the previous Government(that tried its best to do so). Hence innocent, until convicted.

The PN officers and crew who had turned 'jihadi' and tried to use a PN missile frigate against a carrier were apprehended and court martialled by your forces. Hence, guilty.
