Pakistan becomes World’s first country to use Multi Spectral Imagery for Crop Mapping

Seriously?? :laugh::sarcastic:

Even students build satellites for that purpose.

NIUSAT is an Indian University/Academic Institute satellite from Noorul Isalm University in Tamil Nadu State, launched by PSLV-C38. This 15 kg three axis stabilised satellite is built to provide multispectral imagery for agricultural crop monitoring and disaster management support applications

Let me try Pakistani politeness:

Janaab, the thread title is first country not first university ;)

Pakistan is not claiming it discovered the technology, nor claiming it is running tests/ using it to map farms and so on...But is using it to map crops for the country.

Europe and America have long used it for mapping individual fields/ trials/ projects but not nation wide....and even then there are grants/ projects running on improving the algorithm for pixel overlaps and other models to derive more information per pixel or per image

So this was published in August 2018 mostly multispectral imaging is used for forest: https://www.geospatialworld.net/blo...tellite-data-in-advancing-global-development/

My guess is Pakistan is 1st country to do for crops

This is indeed one of the best applications of Remote Sensing Capabilities n Developing Nations like India/Pakistan.
If India and Pakistan both use tech for their developments instead of war, both can progress fast... but alas that's not the case.

I think you are referring to Dr. Umer Saif, come on man he has done a lot for IT development in Pakistan in general and Punjab in particular. He can be an asset if used properly by PTI government.

I know and I used to be appreciative of him until the RTS scam surfaced. You know, you can get many more qualified people but you don't want an over-smart cheaters in your system.

Ha. He was my prof during undergrad. The guy steals his student's projects and research, or at least he did back then.

Pakistan needs to invest some money in AI , suparco and other project which will help them in long term since many companies are starting to work on this Pakistan can actually use this to help understand and stop many of its current and upcoming problems

One major problem what i see is Pakistan needs to reinvest in its housing project as that can help free land in Punjab which is major agricultural hub not just in Pak but also all around the globe
They need re populate its population so that will take some of the burden as will help in diversify provinces with having each of its population as people will relate more with Pakistan rather than provinces

One other suggestion re locating and re building its business hub ( industrial )
Every province has its own advatages and they need to build around that as
Since punjab and sindh provides agriculture and dairy it should be supported in this region
Balochistan and NWFP provides natual resources with tourists destinations that should be supported
Small dedicated hubs which connect these regions which has special industrial hubs for faster transport of goods
As that region can be utilised for its natural resources instead if wasting that and destroying land
Pakistan needs to work in multi storey building rather than large single or double story villas
Singapore is a great example, gov should start this project with 2 or 3 bedroom house and single building which can atleast 20 or 30 houses as it will take less time and space to build these projects and it will also create long term jobs like in housing , facilities

But this project should follow make sure few guideline one it should be cheaper so lower and middle class afford it, environment friendly modern water saving tech , provide some of its energy needs through solar or renewable energy
It will help in one more way as people when they sort of rent these houses they will pay a small monthly amount like rent which will be dudected before taxes and pay should always be given to a bank account , that way it will provide a more traceable money system will also support banks so they can provide more loans for the lower growth
