Pakistan becomes sugar surplus with production of 7.5m tons: Tarin

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin said on Friday that sugar production was likely to increase by two million tons from the existing production of 7.5 million tons recorded last year.

In a tweet, the federal minister said, as a result, Pakistan was back to a sugar surplus country from a deficit.


He said the ex-mill sugar prices were now around Rs81 per kilogram, substantially lower from last year.

“The sugar production likely to increase by 2 million tons from last year to 7.5 million tons. As a result, Pakistan is back to a sugar surplus country from a deficit. Ex-mill sugar prices are now around Rs81/kg substantially lower from last year,” he tweeted.

Bumper crop of Potato - farmer, and government with a sleepless night on how to cater. No vision of value addition on any level. Just exporting in cents, now those countries, especially China will do the value addition and sell in dollars.

Surplus Sugar - First it will be exported under subsidies to benefit Sharif Family/Zardari Family/Treen to help them make money and then upon shortage will be imported on higher prices to loot the common Pakistani to make more money.

This vicious corrupt cycle should be broken by someone or it will never end.

Then Pakistan would be better position to react to international fluctuation in Price

Store in Reserve , figure out thru planning how much % can be released to local Market in case there are high prices

Decide to export small % for $$$

Or of course Donate

The missing part if World Class Storage facilities
Baluchistan has ideal weather for storage facility

Even one of the Mountains can be used to a stroage facility for SEEDs or Food


Also certain years when crop yield is low the strategic reserves can help balance local markets

Right, there is brain drain. Still, millions of brains are blessed to Pakistan.

The issue is that the real Businessmen do value addition, create opportunities and jobs to serve the nation, indeed that is profitable to him also.

In Pakistan, we are dealing with 'MAFIA' which loots the nation, suppresses the common people, and only thinks money is only for themselves.
