Pakistan becomes first country to deploy China's BeiDou GPS network

. . .
It's bewildering man, i have learned that HUD footage from last years Pak/Saudi air exercise was on e-bay, before i knew some private collector in US snapped it for a $1000.
Tell your boss there are deprived folks out there and he should have a heart.

is this true???

.
i have not only seen videos of our drones but also directed artillery fire with their assistance. They are guud.
The co-ordinates for these strikes direct from our capital through the french lent satellite system.

.
Good news! We could end our reliance on western GPS and make our weapons more accurate and reliable!

IMO a navigation system with proper coverage and precision is a goldmine for civilian sector, sky is a limit when it comes to leveraging location intelligent data, it finds its application all the way from Public Transit to Relief disaster, ....even finding where your friend is sitting in the cricket stadium using venue maps.....

Indeed it is a great news, But it all depends on Pakistanis to bring this service to its full functional capability, from the news link below it feels primarily it is military that got interested in it, but there is a mention of extending it to civilian usage.

system will have a major impact on Pakistan’s nuclear deterrence capabilities. But the Beidou system’s real value lies in its ability to provide precision orientation to Pakistani submarines. The Beidou system will significantly impact and help to modernize all guidance and command systems of the Pakistani defense force. The system will also benefit Pakistan’s farmers, disaster prevention forces, certain industries and universities and research institutions among others.

But this news and Dawn's link below is from May 2014, I couldn't find any news where it can be confirmed that this data\services is available in Pakistan for general consumption to 3rd parties.

When we will have it in our Mobile Phones??? I think someone have to launch an app for it.

. . .
But the weapons needed to be configured to use Beidou right? How will it be configured? How soon it might take for that though?

It must have been done already, that is how Pakistan military works.

Pakistan will not use BieDou,if ever they wanted to use Ballistic Missile with Nuclear warheads.

And you believed it??

And you believed it??

I don think so. The navigational module must be changed in each and every weapon system. It needs to be tested on missiles and its feasable. But however to use on satellite guided munitions, it may have to incorporate in the future.

Man, they are already made as per those specifications, specially all weapons made from Chinese tech or purchased from China.

Yeah , possible it can already be built with dual source navigation or switch over mechanism

Even India should be doing the same , for our own IRNSS , by the time all satellites are up, ground instruments will be switched over to our own..

There is nothing to believe or not to believe. Path of Ballistic missile could not be changed. Even in case of manuverable warheads, change is only 1/10000 th part of flight path and is either preprogrammed or done using active sensors.
