Ignorance is somewhere else where another member is trolling without any basis. That's zero knowledge.
Dont waste time friend. I find a lot of garbage on this forum right from the arabs and people like this. Lets put it this way, many have not see light of good universities or education and just on propaganda tirade. Between foul words etc, nothing left and probably if you meet these people they will assault you. This is what lack of education does.
If you talk of BRICS, then China is the leader no doubt, we in South Africa are last in the pack - our universities have dropped very significantly due to government indifference when they used to be in top 100 just a few years back.
While there might be some good researchers in Pakistan, most are not worthy - i am quoting a very good personal friend from next door town who is an industrial mathematician and travels across the world on teaching assignments. Last year he was in Islamabad and prior year 2 months in Ghanzhou and was invited by Indian Mathematicians at their congrugation in I believe there is a town called Aligarh right there after. His comparison in the mathematics field - China is the leader no question - Chinese govt is putting money where the mouth is; most of Chinese professors are coming back from US and are paid same salaries as in US. India was next where there is good level of research and great quality of students are working in groups to solve problems in the field of symetrical analysis; his comment of Pakistan in general - there are one or two good professors; the other professors - the students who do the work, the professors steal their efforts and publish under their name with no mention of students; there is no incentive or effort to move forward - however in mathematics, there are a lot of women coming in but the challenge, they drop out of research as soon as they get their degrees and stay home. Iran is the next place where there are a huge amount of research papers coming from. We have so many post grads here doing research on scholarship - around 8 in next door university in Mmabatho.
My 2cents from an academic scholar's view.

Hey, you don't quote me unless you have something to reply. Asking me again and again to log off, better get lost and don't reply.
For I'm getting boring, I will again start citing India's technical achievements. I hope that won't be repetitive because there's really a lot about that.

The 13th edition of World University Rankings issued by Times Higher Education has placed UK’s University of Oxford the world’s top, snatching the slot from California Institute of Technology.

The top 980 universities on the list this year, however, have only seven institutions from Pakistan.

Of Pakistan’s seven institutions, five are new entrants this year. Three universities make it into the top 800, including COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, National University of Sciences and Technology and Quaid-i-Azam University (all in the 601-800 cohort).

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Bahauddin Zakariya University, University of Karachi and University of Lahore are among 801+ group.

US lost the top spot for the first time in the 13-year history of the rankings as the UK’s University of Oxford becomes the world’s top university. In Asia, 290 universities from 24 countries made it to the ranking while an elite 19 landed in the top 200.

The calculation of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings has been subject to an independent audit by professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), making these the first global university rankings to be subjected to full, independent scrutiny of this nature.

Phil Baty, the editor of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, is elated at Pakistan’s gains.

“It is good news that Pakistan takes seven places in this year’s newly-expanded list of the world’s top universities,” he told Dawn.

According to the report issued by Times Higher Education, three Pakistani universities made it to the top 800 this year, up from two last year.

There are also four entries in the new 801+ band. However, Quaid-i-Azam University has dropped from the 501-600 band to the 601-800 band, due to a decline in its score for its research environment.

“The country spends just over 2 per cent of its GDP on higher education – less than India, Iran, and Bangladesh – although it has committed to spend 4 per cent by 2018,” said Phil Baty.

He was of the view that educational reforms have made the establishment of universities much easier, resulting in an increase in the number of higher education institutions since 2000.

“Pakistan has one of the largest and fastest-growing youth population in the world – with 59 million 10-24 year olds – meaning it is now more crucial than ever that the country invests in higher education.”

Pakistan’s “Vision 2025” programme commits to doubling the proportion of its young people enrolled in higher education to 12 per cent within a decade, and doubling the number of doctoral students to 15,000.

“It is encouraging that Pakistan is taking measures to improve its universities but academics in the region have claimed that progress has been slow,” said Baty.

The World University Rankings feature an increasing number of leading East Asian universities that are beginning to rub shoulders with the global elite.

Baty said, “Pakistan will need to work harder at improving its universities, as global competition heats up, if it wants to achieve the same ambitious task.”

While most Asian countries are suffering from an ageing population, the number of young people in South Asia is increasing. India is set to have the largest student population by 2025, with the number of 18 to 22-year-olds predicted to reach 119 million, the report said.

It added that Pakistan has one of the largest and fastest-growing youth populations in the world, with 59 million 10-24 year olds. It is now more crucial than ever that South Asia makes higher education a priority.

“It is encouraging that so many of the developing nations in the ranking aspire to follow in Asia’s footsteps and build premier universities that can compete with the very best in the world,” the report concluded.

The British Empire used us as soldiers. It used you riff raff from Ganga as "Coolies" all over Africa including Caribean.

And I was right. Your a Ganga hiding behind a Zulu spear.
Not getting to your level. Get your GCSE first then come and talk as adult once you have enrolled and gotten your first degree on this thread. Go and polish some brits shoes pal. you will remain a **** coolie. At least a zulu knobkeri will get you a good taste of ouch factor.

. .
You could not get to my level even if you were reincarnated 10 times over. Polishing Brit shoes is infinetly preferable to polishing some Bantu's a*ss.

*In fact I refrain from further discussion with something that was born out of the sh*tehole.
i arrest my case about garbage on thus forum.... no further discussion.

As per data, the total percentage of documents by all the BRIC countries cited during 2006-2015 is 59.73 per cent while it was 62.27 per cent for Pakistan alone. Similarly, percentage of BRIC’s highly cited papers during the same period was 0.57 per cent while it was 0.71 per cent in Pakistan’s case.

You do realise that 10% of say 100 is a lot less compared to say 1% of a million...even though 10% sounds better than 1%?

Slight percentage differences in prevalence dont matter so much when the raw denominator output is a lot lower per capita to begin with. I am sure you are familiar with the scientific paper output in question:

If you follow Mr Riaz Haq's blogs you'd quickly understand who uses "selective statistics" to measure ****. Oh,wait, why dont you read his blogs?

Great to see Pakistan growing in quality research papers day by day.
