this form of kabaddi is called as AMAR style Kabaddi.

four defenders and 5 to 6 raiders in a circle.

instead of saying "kabaddi kabaddi" the raider is given 30 seconds to raid and comeback. confrontation is also only one on one between raider and defender.

the one we see on Star Sports Pro Kabaddi is called as Sanjeevani Kabaddi

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan outclassed India by 50-31 points in an important match of the third Asian Kabaddi Championship at Wah Cantt on Friday evening to claim the title, DawnNews reported.

It was the last match of the traditional style Kabaddi tournament at the Pakistan Ordinance Factory Sports Complex in Wah.

Pakistan's superiority in the match is evident from their lead. The players applied forceful grips to get hold of Indian players to remain focus of attention throughout the match.

The Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) in collaboration with POF Sports Control Board under the banner of the Asian Kabaddi Federation organised the third Asian Kabaddi Championship at Wah Cantonment from April 27.

Seven teams including India, Iran, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Pakistan participated in the international event.

By beating India, the national team also managed to defend its title.

The traditional team sport, in which players try to tag opponents while holding their breath, is hugely popular in the Punjab provinces of both India and Pakistan.

That was an awesome match.. I was epicly pissed at the previous match held in india.. Bad & biased umpiring ,ending the match before time,harsh behaviour ..

I tried it .. PU kabaddi team.. Those guys are huge.. Minus the sprinter guy..

I actually Have. I did not grow up playing kabbadi but in engineering, I played all four years to get Mech Engg Dept as much representation to make it in annual sports. I wasn't very good at it though, I think I got picked because I was a powerlifter and good at soccer.

If i am not mistaking last time India won the championship, aur lagao beef pe ban, poor player got tired so early in the game they were craving beef

take turns, go into other teams side, tag a member from the opposite side and try and make it into your side, while the opposite side tries to hold you back from returning to the line. All this within one long breath, throughout you keep saying kabbadi-kabbadi to show the referee that you haven't inhaled. It's more fun that it sounds though.

It's actually one of the more simpler games, it's a contact sport and lot of fun. If you get a chance, you should try it.
