Pakistan bans Indian films from being screened in country

Few other places or societies are more comfortable with their hypocrisy.
As far as stupidity and hypocrisy goes, the far left from your country may yet give Pakistanis a run for their money. Funnily enough, I've seen them get along quite well with Islamists. You should hear my professor who recently visited Columbia. A wonderfully noxious concoction of Iqbalism and postmodern bullcrap. Asmaan sai gira khajoor mai atka.

well their drama clips are used to create memes so no wonders what low quality they are. Lol
Dont know why geezers love it. Their plots are pathetic and freakingggg long. Like 1000 episode long.

Some one Jst ask them will tht stop the genocide in kashmir, will it stop modis troops taking AJK and GB and then rest of PAK??
does this fool govt and its agencies hve any dam idea, whts RSS stands for and why thy kill thier own country's founding father for???
Actully, depty American secretry is jst here to make sure pakistan doesn't fight bck, Thts whts the biggest fear of modi is, while thy tried to tied down pak with IMF and FATAF bt, is tht enough???
Pakistani deep state isn't what ppls thinks for, thy r secret chain of command which takes very immediate and important decisions and now tht deep state has decided to fight bck, doesn't matters what imran thinks or tht nearly retired genral shb thinks, Pakistani deep state is in motion and it ill make sure tht india gets hurts badly no matters what may comes
Blocking bollywood or sending diplomats isnt going to affect anything to be frank. And stopping trade will harm Pakistani traders a lot. What will harm is only small scale or full scale war. Cross border firing or skirmish will hardly have any effect bcoz the government has stocked up ammo and shells and honestly we can keep firing longer. And is the release of Hafiz Saeed true ? that would be a blow back to all the support you got from china, turkey and malaysia to stop blacklisting. It will go in vain.

Good. Whole worlds cinema is out there and some of our populace still insist on watching this crap.
No one forces you to watch crap, its the choice of your people.

Cinema owners have to make make and they want to screen what will give them most returns. It is economics 101, if Turkish/ Iranian/ Chinese content had demand then they would have overtaken your film industry like bollywood

Cinema owner is not doing charity to Indian films / Chinese Films / Turkis Films, He will (or want to in the present scenario) screen the ones which will get him most sales.

also this bans doest not stop ppl to get stuff from torrent / arranging content from other way. Only a small portion of Pakistan hates bollywood (Which over indexes on PDF)

I don’t follow Bollywood and Indian drama industry at all.

Good for you then, for it is a good thing.

And yet no country's films are banned here, nor is there any need to do so. :D

Well, I haven't yet watched "Bharat" as I thought it is a typical action film with a nationalistic twist.

And what do you think about "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" ??

Bajrangi bhai jan is a total waste of time. Good story, but poor acting by Salman khan. Just like Pk, good story but too much over acting by Amir khan...

Then you should stop watching them :coffee:

I dont watch movies because i love bollywood or i am a diehard fan of salman/SRK .... my reasons are different. Btw i almost reduced bollywood movies to 4-5 a year. Before that i would watch some 50+ in a year.

That's good but that's like 50% of the job.

We need to also guilt trip so they will feel guilty even if they get the urge to watch it in private. Push the idea that much of their movies are obscene and aren't fit for decent Muslims. Also that they're made by a country who actively plays a hand in killing Muslims, raping muslim women, blinding muslim kids etc... "Do you really want to give their industry support by watching their movies baaji...?"

Some of it is pretty obvious but people just kinda overlook these things. But if we can hammer in these ideas that we can slowly get people hooked off this poison. Also the ban needs to stay in place and not get unbanned if things calm down.

Hafiz Saeed is the just the face, faces can easily be replaced. Just let the Afghan issue settle and let the Taliban come into power then the real game starts.

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Thursday launched a national slogan ‘Say No to India’ and decided to ban all cultural exchanges with India including all kinds of joint ventures in the entertainment industry of the two countries.

“All kinds of Indian content have been stopped and Pemra [Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority] has been directed to step up its vigilance in this regard along with actions against the sale of Indian DTH instruments,” said Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan.

Talking to media persons at a reception hosted by her, she said that the recent Indian action to annex Kashmir had proved that the Quaid-i-Azam was right.

“It is a clash of two ideologies. On the one hand, we have enlightened moderate and progressive ideology while on the other the extremist government in India has shown their hard-line, terrorist, fanatic and anti-Muslim ideology.”

Govt also bars screening of Indian films in cinemas

She said that the deception of cultural exchange was polluting the minds of Pakistani youth and it was essential to contain Indian content that indirectly portrayed their false propaganda.

The special assistant also told the media that the National Security Council had decided to establish a group and thus Pakistan would fight the “Hindutva” ideology from all fronts.

The group will be the cluster of all relevant ministries to fight against the Indian designs at required forums.

“The external communications will be dealt with by the ministry of information, Foreign Office and the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) as per nature of information,” Dr Awan said.

At the same time, she requested the media to be extra cautious and responsible. “I am responsible to answer your queries but I request you not to air any negative ticker based on sources as it could damage the national narrative over this sensitive issue.”

She said in the current situation, the clash between Indian and Pakistani cultural and social values were imminent and it was the media’s responsibility to come to the forefront to defeat Indian cultural invasion.

Indian films

The government has also banned the screening of Indian films in the country’s cinemas, report agencies.

“No Indian film will be screened in any Pakistani cinema. Drama, films and Indian content of this kind will be completely banned in Pakistan,” tweeted Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan.

Senior film producer and director Syed Noor welcomed the decision and said that India’s recent steps were not less than a war and Pakistan’s decision to sever all kinds of relationship with India was right.

Talking to APP, he said that the showbiz industry stood behind the people of held Kashmir.

This is not the first time that a ban on Indian content has been imposed.

Earlier in February, in the wake of the Indian Air Force’s violation of Pakistan’s air space, the Pakistan Film Exhibitors Association had boycotted Indian films and announced that no Indian movie would be released in Pakistan.

Pemra was also instructed by the government to act against advertisements that were made in India.
