What's new

Pakistan-Bangladesh trade volume to soon touch $1bn: envoy

They have an abundance of lands but a scarcity of water.

If an abundance of land could feed you sub Saharan Africans would not starve.

I believe India will surrender its consumer electronics and clothing and footwear to Bangladesh.

In return Bangladesh will procure most of its raw materials and heavy engineering from India. Even maybe military transport vehicles.

It facilitates massive economic of scale in both countries.

By 2035, Bangladesh will export 20 billion to India and India will probably export 80 billion.

That’s if Hinduvta can be controlled.

No way BD can sustain a 60 billion US dollar trade deficit with India in 2035.

40-50 to 20 in favour of India seems ok.

Also BD will never buy too much heavy engineering from India due to both quality and strategic reasons.

As for Pakistan's ability to innovate and supply specific foodstuffs to BD we shall have to disagree and anyway we should not talk about BD-India as it is off-topic!

.
Name the poster claiming Bangladesh to be an emerging superpower??!!

Bangladesh is a 3k per capita country. And that’s exactly what it looks and feels like. No more and no less.
Please ask our great thinker @UKBengali to know if BD is not almost a highly developed country. Ask our @Black_cats to know how the BD economy will rise to $1 trillion by 2030 with the help of our finance minister Mustafa Kamal.

Kamal loves to play arithmetic games with fictitious numbers.

East Pakistan's border were carved in blood of a political will through a political movement via democratic principles.

Bangladesh is an artificial entity borne out of primitive human instincts of being superior.

God's given free will you have used to negate the 2nd part of the slogan of Pakistan.

 What are you talking about haha.

. .
you won't understand Mujeeb boi

Can we go back to topic please?

We are supposed to be discussing BD-Pakistan trade here.

Any ideas how trade between the two can be increased over this decade?

you are wrong not to seek the reasons our people wanted separation from you. Your troops came to subjugate us and impose your wrong will on us by force. We resisted because we did not start the Pakistan Movement to become a colony of west Pakistan.

Why regret now what your PA troops did here? Now, you have your own separate country independent of Nata-Kala Machliwala Bangali but with intelligent politicians.

It is time that you prove yourself. But, you have failed to prove that Pakistan Movement was needed for the Muslims of the Subcontinent. You have made Pakistan more of a joke by talking about Kashmir when your own people remain hungry.

Bangladesh is rapidly eating away her forests and mangroves. Pakistan can offer you preferable trade in the construction industry.

You need to take to the sea in modern manner too so we can help with that.

Pakistan is going through a consumerist wave, so whatever you can offer, there would be a market for your goods.

The weather is too good right now to pay attention to your wailing.

Can you exlain further what you mean by this?

Yes we can offer Pakistan hugh quality home electronics and appliances at reasonable prices and BD has massive demand for timber.

.
We already give military equipment to burma,
If it comes to that Bangladesh will allow US a base in our land, trust me they have been trying for a while.

better to be under Uncle then the cow feces eaters.
Some 105 mm howitzers,a submarine etc .
Plus india is looking for a natural gas pipeline from burma .
Kindly keep your people and your country to yourself.
We dont want any of it.
Just india complete its CIBMS infra on indo Bangla border, and we are happy for time being .

I understand you have nothing but blabbering in response to my post. Very good. But, develop your Pakistan and do not wait for the divine power to help you. Your Mullahs were crying for divine power to extinguish a fire in Karachi.

How stupid and superstitious you guys are!!!

Bangladesh has a nominal GDP of $400 billion now? With 12.5% nominal compounded growth, Bangladesh will be at the $1 trillion ballpark by 2030. This includes inflation in the economy.

No it is not 'simple' as you think it is.

You are talking with someone who does not understand basic arithmetic.

Totally wasting your time with someone like that as he fundamentally has made up his mind and no amount of facts and logic is going to make him change his opinions.

Economists have a system to calculate and understand the growth of GDP. It is the capital: output ratio. For a developing country where the labor cost is cheap, this ratio can be considered 3:1.

So, to raise the GDP by $10 billion, the country must invest 30 billion. Now, tell me how many billions of dollars have been invested in BD last year.

Last year, it was about $2.9 billion FDI, and of course, there were investments from the local entities. But, is the local investment something like $30 billion or more? Even if it is so, we can assume growth of $11 billion which is only 3% of the claimed current GDP.

Please come with data to claim BD is achieving anything more than 5% growth. No capital investment means no output and no growth. Why do you think BD will achieve 12% growth?

I ask @UKBengali to come forward with his Hasina Economic Theory to prove BD GDP is growing more than 5%.

I specifically mentioned that it is in nominal terms. That includes inflation. What is Bangladesh's nominal GDP growth this year?
