CG Lahore celebrates 1st Lahore-Urumqi resumption flight​

The Urumqi-Lahore route was suspended on January 24, 2020, due to Covid-19 restrictions on the aviation sector. The event marked a significant moment as flights resumed after more than three years from the capital of Punjab, Pakistan to the capital of Xinjiang, China. The flights are scheduled on a weekly basis, specifically on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

Speaking on the occasion, Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren said that after a more than three-year suspension, the inaugural passenger aircraft of China Southern Airlines had arrived at Allama Iqbal International Airport and commenced its resumption flight from Lahore to Urumqi.

“It is a significant event, and it is also good news for all,” he added. “Lahore, as well as Punjab at large, plays a very important role in Pakistan in terms of population, economic output, and cultural heritage. It has built up a strong partnership and close cooperation with various regions of China.

Therefore, the direct flight operation is a necessity, and will inject new momentum into further strengthening people-to-people exchanges, trade, and investment between China and Punjab,” he added.

He continued, saying, “It will also facilitate business trips for traders, travelers, students, and tourists from both sides by providing them with time-saving and cost-effective flight services.”

Quetta International Airport Made Operational After Upgradation of Main Runway

The upgraded runway now has the capacity to accommodate larger aircraft like the Boeing 777 and other passenger planes. During the flight’s landing, the airport manager and project director were present to oversee the event.

In addition to the runway upgrade, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has expanded the taxiway and apron area and installed modern flight management equipment at the Quetta airport. These modifications aim to improve flight operations and services for passengers.

This development is particularly significant for the citizens of Balochistan as it will enable them to access travel services provided by the national flag-carrier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), as well as other airlines during Hajj operations. The enhanced facilities will enhance convenience and efficiency for travelers in the region.

Pakistan and Kazakhstan have commenced direct flights as part of their efforts to enhance tourism and trade connections.

SCAT Air Company of Kazakhstan will operate two weekly flights, every Wednesday and Saturday, using a Boeing 737 aircraft to link Lahore and Almaty.

The direct flight between the two cities will have a duration of approximately 2 hours, promoting economic cooperation, trade relations, and tourism opportunities.

Virgin Atlantic ends operation in Pakistan​

RAWALPINDI: Virgin Atlantic operated its final flight from Islamabad International Airport on Sunday after announcing earlier in the year that it will suspend operations between London Heathrow, Lahore and Islamabad.

SalamAir’s inaugural flight lands at Peshawar airport​

RAWALPINDI: A Qatar-based airline’s inaugural flight landed at the Peshawar’s Bacha Khan International Airport early on Monday.

The first flight of SalamAir from Muscat to Peshawar touched down at the airport at 3.13am.

The airline also plans to operate seven weekly flights to Karachi and three each to Multan and Sialkot.

A Civil Aviation Authority spokesman said the inaugural flight was given the traditional water salute by the airport’s fire tenders as it taxied on the taxiway-B.

SalamAir’s managing director Mohsin Albalushi and director operations Maaz Albalushi also arrived in Peshawar on the same flight.

Senior officials of SalamAir Group and Menzies-Royal Airport Services (M-RAS) were also present at the airport to greet the aircraft. A brief celebration was held to mark the occasion.

The carrier will operate twice-weekly flights from Muscat to Peshawar scheduled on Mondays and Thursdays. The new route will provide convenient travel options for tourists and residents between the two countries.

Pakistan’s Serene Airlines starts its operations in China​

BEIJING,- Pakistan’s private Serene Airlines operated its inaugural flight today to Beijing, China. The flight originated from Karachi while stopping in Islamabad and then left for Daxing airport in Beijing. The maiden flight was received amidst a warm welcome ceremony.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Caretaker Adviser to the Prime Minister on Aviation, Air Marshal (Retd) Farhat Hussain Khan HI(M), described the commencement of this flight operation as another milestone in advancing China Pakistan relations through connectivity, travel and tourism. It also signified Pakistan’s commitment to providing seamless travel facilities to the people of the two nations and fostering strong people to people ties.

On the occasion, Pakistan's envoy to China, Ambassador Khalil Hashmi said that launching of airline services by private sector will not only strengthen the air bridge between Pakistan and China but also boost investment, trade , travel and tourism.

The new route is poised to facilitate increased business, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two nations, added the Ambassador.

He noted that in addition to bolstering economic ties, increasing air connectivity aims to contribute to the growth of the tourism sector as well.

As part of the launch celebration, Serene Airlines hosted a ceremonial event at Beijing Daxin Airport, attended by government officials, diplomats and representatives from the aviation industry of China and Pakistan.
