ISLAMABAD - The number of tourism visa application to Pakistan submitted by Chinese in the first half year of 2016 jumped by 37 folds, according to an industry report.



According to China daily the visa center of Ctrip, a leading online travel agency in China, said new tourism destinations are increasing as top choices of Chinese matureoutbound tourists and Pakistan is “a dark horse” this year.

OMG.Did you even read that report? The report clearly talks about total number of tourists. There is no seperate figure for foreign tourists. Talk about misleading people

A billion internal visits (domestic) means just under 1 per person per year in India (across a state I think).

There is much to go given most developed countries average about 1.5 - 2 internal visits per person...sometimes a lot more.

This is bound to increase manifold with increase in disposable income. The figure of 1 billion is from 2012 and it is an increase of 16 percent from 2011. I am sure it is much higher in 2015.
