Pakistan on Friday said it has formally approached medical relief charity Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders) for emergency health services in Kashmir.
Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz wrote a letter to MSF chief highlighting the emergency health situation in Kashmir, Foreign Office spokesman said in a statement.
The advisor wrote about the state of "medical emergency" in Jammu and Kashmir that has developed as a result of "atrocious Indian brutalities against unarmed and defenseless civilians".
"The Advisor has requested Medecins Sans Frontieres to immediately provide medical assistance to thousands of injured in Kashmir. The Advisor particularly emphasised the urgent need of eye surgeons, as hundreds of people are suffering from severe eye injuries caused by the use of pellet guns on peaceful protesters," it said.
It is not sure how the MSF would respond to the letter, which seems to be an effort to internationally highlight the issue of Kashmir.
Pakistan and India have been at loggerheads over the recent unrest in Kashmir.
The two sides exchanged barbs at SAARC security summit in Islamabad when Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited Pakistan yesterday.

They are just offering medical support. If you don't let them help it shows we are right in our accusations of India oppressing Kashmir.

MFS will say Thanks but no Thanks. The Ruling Party in Kashmir can/is providing Medical assistance to people. Further, doctors from other parts of India are already there.

Use non voilent means of protest. :)

Aziz should have added a foot note that these doctors also take a look at Pakistani workers in the thousands who are currently without any healthcare in Saudi after losing their jobs. ...doesnt seem concerned about his compatriots left high and dry...only worry is about India and Indians....

And after 2-3 years Pakistani will say "hey it was India who ran to MSF with tail between its legs to get some medical assistance".
