ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office asked Iran on Friday not to ‘externalise’ its problems, but focus on fighting militancy at home.
“It is not helpful to externalise problems. We need to focus on eliminating terrorism from our countries,” Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said at the weekly media briefing.

She was responding to Iranian threat of hot pursuit of militants allegedly launching cross-border attacks on Iran’s border posts from their sanctuaries in Balochistan province of Pakistan.

Militants belonging to Jaishul Adl have stepped up attacks on Iranian posts along Pakistan-Iran border over the past fortnight. The attacks prompted Iranian officials to ask Pakistan to control the activity on its border or allow them (Iranian border guards) to take action.

“The Pakistani government has practically no control over the border areas, and if they really cannot control the common border, they should tell us so that we ourselves can take action,” an Iranian official was quoted by Iranian media as having said.

Ms Aslam did not outrightly deny cross-border activity and asked Iran to share available evidence with Pakistan.

“There may be cross-border activities or other transnational crimes like narcotic and drug trafficking,” she said. “We believe that if Iran has evidence that elements from Pakistan are involved in activities against Iran, they should share it with us”.

The spokesperson asked Tehran to use the border management committee of the two countries for investigating the allegations.

“With Iran, we have mechanisms like the border management committee.

We have mechanisms which can investigate such events as was done in the past when the Iranian guards were kidnapped and released inside Iran,” she maintained.

But at the same time she challenged Iranian account of the events and said information available with Pakistan suggests that the incidents took place inside Iranian territory and were carried out by Iranian militants.

Emphasising on counter-terrorism cooperation between the two countries she said that Pakistan and Iran were neighbours who shared a long border and both had been affected by the events in this region.

Responding to another question about terrorists’ safe havens along the Pak-Afghan border, the spokesperson said: “We are against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. We are also determined not to allow our territory to be used against any other country. We expect that other countries would also not allow their territories to be used against Pakistan. It is a two way responsibility.”

In a region where you see active insurgency, drug smugglers, a war up north and soldiers/border guards dying at regular intervals, killing each others' border guards is not a good idea.

We are the only neighbour of Iran's that isn't against it as such or under influence to be anti-Iran. We Pakistani people hold sympathetic views for Iran. And we in Pakistan don't need our border guards being killed on the LAST relatively peaceful border of ours.

I hope the trigger happy elements that caused this to happen are dealt with.

.
Relationship between Iran- Pakistan is very important and also in the interest of this region as well. Therefore any issue must be solved through diplomatic level rather then going for confrontational route.

. .
Why Pakistan and Iran not working together to safeguard their border areas??

.
Iran is a snake, they were & are very close to India. Iran can never be trusted.

.
Pak Iran should strengthen their ties and work together in science and tech, energy, military and other fields. I believe both countries can achieve a lot by working together. I hope they realize this and go back to dialogues to solve whatever issue they have.

General Gravand told reporters here on Saturday that on average 100 illegal immigrants are arrested by the force daily.

He added that providing security for borders with Afghanistan and Pakistan is with Iran, because those governments do not have good control on their own borders.

Considering siezure of drugs, the general said that during past six months, 28 tons of narcotics has been siezed by the Border Guard Force and 130 smugglers have been arrested, too.

He said that security of borders is provided by the most advanced equipment, which is produced domestically and the force is able to repair 95 percent of such equipment.

General Gravand also said of an armed conflict in the border of Pakistan with illegal armed persons in the past 48 hours, which lasted for one hour and two Iranian officers were martyred and a number of bandits were killed.

He stressed that the force has good interaction with neighboring countries on border security.

Concerning ISIS group, the general said there is no trace of Daesh Takfiri group in Iran's borders, adding that before any move by the group they will be recognized by IRGC, Intelligence personnel and people.

How about focusing and eliminating the LET and JeM from her country? It's no point eliminating the 'bad terrorists' whilst supporting the 'good terrorists'.

I would suggest to Tasnim Aslam to practice what she preaches and not pontificate to others.

Unfortunately Iran is fail to understand how intense war Pakistan security agencies fighting against terrorism. They should know hundreds of Pakistani people been killed by these terrorist while entering Pakistan from Iran. Pakistan army is already stretch to thin. Pakistan army serving on four front. Indain border, Occupied Kashmir border, Internal insurgency , Plus grand operation in FATA. Its army with hands full. Plus we unlucky that we are bordered with Afghanistan. Which is biggest source of terrorism .....No doubt its said Iranian lost many Border guards because of Raggi and Company . But Pakistan is also striving hard to control these element. Remember it was Pakistani agencies who informed Iran govt when Raggi flew to UAE . Remember terrorist is mad dog who bites its master at the end of day and these region is full of these type of mad dogs.
