According to H khan of PAKDEF
Pakistan Army is supposed to be testing Chinese NORINCO MBT-3000 next month. There is one-generation gap between Al-Khalid and MBT3000. 1,300 HP engines rather then 1280 of T-99G. The trails of this engine were successful during the summer in the east and southern desert regions of Pakistan. MBT3000 is vastly superior to AK and T-99G. Its subsystems and armor is much superior to AK and T-99G. 12.7mm is remote-controlled plus it uses 3rd generation TIS. All of its FCS are digitalized. The commander uses two-large-size colored MFD and the driver has two MFD.

Pakistan has already tested Type- 09/VN-1 8x8 Wheeled IFV initially 120 will be supplied to Pak Army and another 700 will be produced under license at HIT.

I think this IFV will be equipped with 100mm rifled gun plus 30mm 2A72 cannon.

MBT3000 = AK-II?

That's a bit perplexing, since AK was supposed to be the next gen MBT for Pakistan Army.

what's the deal with the naming schemes of these tanks??
MBT-2000
MBT-3000
It has been made clear that AK-2 is indigenous but if it's not then i see no point in having to spend on an organization which is supposed to produce indigenous tanks....
MBT-3000 is a chinese product, ask them.....

disappointed if true otherwise the Heavy industry taxila interview early this year confirmed that the next variant of MBT-2000 in development is a Pakistan effort with possibility of importing 1500HP engine from ukraine and possible mass production onwards june 2015

Well if we are producing it and good Tank we should go for it

Al-Khalid 2 is probably going to be Pakistan's answer to the MBT-3000. Perhaps they are considering using MBT-3000s and modifying them instead of producing a new one.

Alkhalid 1 upgrades is surpassed the mbt 3000 in terms of electronics .... AK 2 is supposed to be have 1500 HP engine

I don't think so that PA will go for MBT 3000
