Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani said on Saturday that the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army for the defence of the motherland are a golden chapter in the countrys history.
The army chief paid glowing tributes to Major General Sanaullah Khan Niazi, Lieutenant Colonel Tauseef Ahmad and Lance Naik Irfan Sattar, who embraced martyrdom in an attack in Upper Dir a few days ago.
General Kayani visited the Division Headquarters of the Pakistan Army in Khwazakhela in Swat district and met the troops.
The army chief showered praise on the slain officers of the Pakistan Army and said the nation would always remember their sacrifices. He said the security forces had rendered matchless sacrifices to flush out the militants from Swat and Malakand Division.
General Kayani said the Pakistan Army soldiers helped the civil administration resettle the families that were displaced due to the military operation against the militants. He said the soldiers actively took part in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the destroyed infrastructure in the area.
He said the army was prepared to face all the challenges and would spare no effort to maintain the writ of the government.
