Pakistan Army, more battlefield experienced soldiers

Half of you have a problem understanding the meaning of a post.

Concerning the meaning: I understand that the thread is not only about training but also about real war situation when there is heavy enemy fire, you see your comrades dying, you are ordered to carry on the assault and you capture the enemy's positions. Taliban are one of the fiercest enemy possible on the earth (ask NATO about it) that Pakistan army is fighting with . I think that was the intention of the thread. The thread's not about comparison with India or state of preparation of Indian forces: this much about any comment on understanding the meaning.

This is an automatic learning. This wasn't intended, desired or seeked as a primary objectives. However its good that our soldiers are battle hardened and have seen, lived and participated in the real-battles from which they and their juniors to come will keep benefiting from. Pakistan had its light battle 40 years ago.. I think this learning will be valued by many within the army as valuable and needful experience.

Also this is a different kind of training/learning which our soldiers have gone under. It is a war against gorilla tactics and unclear enemies which is 3rd generation warfare tactic.. but it should be taken as a welcome learning for sure.
Aside from this "learning by doing", last year was declared as a year of training by COAS and some changes have also been made in training proceedure making it more at par with western/US training routines.

No doubt they are experienced but you can't ignore the mental and physical fatigue it can effect battlefield performance.

Hi,

You are right about what you are saying---but---by default---the fallback is in comparison to indian military. So now the pak troops are battle hardened---what would they want to do next---.

Swat valley has no access from Afghanistan and we see Pak army fought and won the WOT in few months..
but areas with Afghan border..the WOT is never ending...

@ coldhearted.

Were they from Gurkha rifles ?

If you are referencing the video, they are not from one particular regmt but this vid is of IA soliders undergoing training at the IA's famed Counter Insurgency Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS) which imparts training on how to fight in jungles onto regular soldiers and SOFs from both India and abroad. This training is imparted to all infantry regmts of the IA- just goes to show how well trainined even non-SF are trained in IA!

WoT is laughable and miniscule.

Our army has been in a state of war since the late 70's.

Talk about battlefield experience.

Ok you army is well experienced and pak army is not ... We'll see it one day

anti-terror operations are a totally different game than a war with another country

These are not solely "anti-terror operations" besides that is a vague term.

Were they from Gurkha rifles ?

The ones in the beginning of the clip are gurkhas(those who were conducting raid in the village)...The ones in the end doing Room Intervention were from Jammu and Kashmir rifles and Punjab regtt.

You are right...But you can guess their Regtts if you carefully see their epaulettes.

If fighting insurgency gives more battlefield experience, then Afganistan, Somalia, Sudan, Iraq, Nigeria, Rawanda will have best army in world.

fighting insurgents give a different sort of battle experience, priority being protection of civilians and infrastructures and anti guerilla tactics...you will be fighting a smaller ,more mobile, less tech but very strong willed and agressive forces

You cant use this experience in a war with a country [ except for the medical and logistics ] . fighting a nation will be on equal footin and the logistics and bumbers involved will be so mrassive the only a war can give its true experience.....No wonder the US army rocks

TTP have nothing to do with the Talibans fighting Coalition forces in Afghanistan.
The Afghan Taliban have not on one occasion announced support for TTP and its action in Pakistan.

Non the less, TTP is well trained, well armed and well guided force and PA is fighting a capable enemy.
Who is Training, arming and guiding the TTP is a different discussion altogether!

regards!

Nonetheless they same ideologies and its not far streched to say this movement arouse from the afghan talibans and their zeal for their version of Islamic state
