@HRK @Signalian
Right, the total security situation of Pakistan is unacceptable since 2001, therefore I will write my recommendation to minimize IED planters (terrorists) and to confront the ambush attacks on our Forces. I will only focus on the role of Infantry and not Intelegencies failures or the law and order, the government of Pakistan does not have the absolute control of every human living, leaving, entering in Pakistan like China, USA or Germany, the best example is Gulalai Ismail escaped and will beat us in future who knows what she is planing, but these things were already discussed and spoken by
@Signalian. I will write based on my training and lecture as Ex-Infantirist, observation of these war since 2001.
In 2015 and 2016 before operation Zarb-e-Azb started, we could observe that porous borders and sporadically build and manned post are continuously over runed and attacked, heavy casualties and deep penetration of enemy infiltration in our Citys was the result. The situation was out of control, in these days I did wrote already that we need manned heavy border Forts and tower with heavy weapons, that we have to fence the Border, I was criticized for that "Its too expensive, it's impossible, we don't have the manpower". ....but where is a will there is a way, now we have "Hamza Forts" and are Fencing the Border! So we found out a very old and medieval method, castles originated from the 9th and 10th centuries combined with arms is the way forward, our Forts are now equipped with Tanks, short-range Artillery, Mortars, 106mm recoilless guns, AA Guns, 12.7mm Aa Guns, Snipers and even Manpads..... But whats about the open land masses and mountains? We don't have the resources and technical capacity to watch and observe 24 hours every inch of the North and South Waziristan as
@Signalian mentioned even UAV cant circle around 24 hours every square kilometre, MRAPS can save lives, but do not prevent the attacks, attack Helicopters cant take out IED planters, the root of the problem are humans, which have to make their ways in our Citys and lands. And this human infiltration can be fought in our case with human foot patrol Infantry.
From what I know, I did read and I have observed, Pakistan Army and FC have not a !!!---widespread and effective Long-range reconnaissance patrol network and system---- !!!
The Key Idea is to patrol large areas, forests and mountains, by foot Soldier Partys, which is more effective, because if the Infantry is attacked by an IED or an ambush, the risk and chance that whole Party or units get blown up in a vehicle are much lesser why?
- Infantry on foot can faster response to enemy fire or ambush because it's already dismounted, sitting 6 men in a truck have less reaction time, and can't use all their human observation senses effectively
- searching for cover will be faster
- Infantry on foot is stealthier than a pickup or truck because foot soldiers can camouflage themselves
- infantry on foot gives a minimize target profile (its easier to aim and fire on a big pick up than a single Soldier who is lying on the ground and will response the enemy fire in less than a minute, ..)
- Infantry on foot can locate the enemy fire faster and fire back
-causalities can be reduced, whole Party cant be blown up by IED because Infantry patrols in an intelligent way, not all soldiers will patrol on the same line and way, they will be spread over a line
- Infantry has the chance to confront suspects activities while patroling and maybe the chance to counter the enemy infiltration
- foot patroling Infantry must be given right and technical equipment to control and stop every citizen (so they can re-check the identity of the person with the home base or even NADRA...)
-advantage of foot patroling Infantry over check posts and truck/pick up/ vehicle patrols it's more mobile and can reach difficult terrains
- showing presence during a patrol in mountains and open lands, the forest is a message to the enemy that now every inch can be and will be observed
- chances that our infantry will meet enemy party gets higher and higher after patrol activities get implemented on large areas and systematically
-gathering of critical intelligence, enable or support a joint strike measure on call by nearby posts or accident-attack
- patrolling at night and in the daytime, and to provide documentation and analysis of gathered intelligence through reconnaissance
IED planting in open land, ambush in open land or Urban areas, cross Border attacks countered by foot patrol Infantry:
- a platoon 50 Soldiers, divided into 3 partys, 17 Soldiers in Alpha, 17 Soldiers in Bravo, 16 Soldiers in Charlie is tasked with patrolling a 100 km zone
- patrol areas will be well-known Border areas and inland zone, where attacks happened often
- every Party will patrol with a K-9 DOG which is specialized on snuffing IED and mines
- every Party of the Patrol must have the capacity to be independent of logistic supplies such as ration, medics, water, foood and shelter from main posts and base for more than 3 days
-every Party must be equipped with an IEA detector with a trained IED locker
- every Part must have a sniper
- every Party must have the capability to call close air support from Cobra Helicopters on the fastest way as possible
- every Party must have the option to call for airborne Heli reinforcement troops the fastest way as possible
Everyone should ask himself here why such an attack happen more and often in Pakistan than India, in my opinion, their Border fencings is not the main reason but the high presence of patrols, India has since the 1960s the
Special Frontier Force- long-range reconnaissance patrol or pathfinder and we? Please don't compare Long-range reconnaissance patrol with SSG...
