The Federal Cabinet, on Tuesday, approved the extension of the online visa facility that is now available for the residents of 16 more countries.
A summary of the development that also sought the cabinet’s endorsement had been sent to the Interior Ministry in this regard.

Following the approval, the e-visa facility that was previously available for 175 countries will now be available to 191 countries and will allow their residents to apply for online visas in various categories including tourist, business, and student visas.

The new visa facility had been approved in January last year to promote tourism in Pakistan. It allowed e-Visas to 175 countries, and visas on arrival to the residents of 50 countries as well as Britishers of Indian-origin and American citizens holding American or UK passports.

With these developments, internationally-approved tour operators were also allowed to bring tourist groups to Pakistan. It also made the procurement of work visas for business purpose convenient for the residents of 96 countries.

Addressing the online visa launch ceremony in March last year, Prime Minister Imran Khan had termed the new visa regime as ‘a step towards Naya Pakistan’.

“This is the first step to open up the country, the Naya (new) Pakistan. Pakistan always had a mindset ‘make it as difficult as you can to grant anyone visas’, he had stated.”

Khan had vowed to make Pakistan a tourism destination for foreigners and had promised to establish new tourist destinations in KP and Balochistan.

Do these people making policies in Pakistan ever stepped outside the country? Most of these naturalised Indians, specially in America are very much pro Modi/RSS. Support for hindu terrorists is very strong among Indian diaspora. Dont be daft.

agree..

some times I think all this time in the west the hindu Indians has a regressive mentality and fail to adopt human rights and rule of law values...

kind of like a cave man given a modern iPad and uses it as paper weight.

Pakistan no doubt has huge scope in tourism sector. But before inviting International people, GOP has to do some homework to improve infrastructure and facilities in hot spot tourist areas because once people start coming here, they will become our ambassador by giving true feedback. That matters a lot to promote tourism.

Yes.
Sharing some dirty secrets in the hope that someone in the higher ups might notice this and improve! Me and my Gori wife traveled from Karachi to Rawalpindi on an almost 24 train trip December 2019. Half way down the trip, the water supply in the toilet ran out and, were TOLD, won't be available until Khanewal Junction station. Add in the almost certain upset stomachs in Pakistan and you can imagine the inconvenience. And, mind you, this was an Air Conditioned Sleeper category which was the top of the line in that train (Sir Syed Express). So water bottles from the drinking water supply had to be used. Luckily, plenty of that was available.
Though we still greatly enjoyed the trip: The views, the hospitality, the food, the rocking and rolling of the train--it takes only one avoidable negligence to ruin the 'take-home' memories.

To start: As much icon-clad security as possible for a poorer country. Next: Working Toilets!!

Nah. No regrets. I love train (and cruise) travel and it was mostly a good experience.

BTW, in barely two weeks of stay, wife and I stayed in 5 different hotels in 3 different cities for 9 nights total, and took multiple Uber rides in those cities, including 5 full day rides in Uber (about Rs. 5000-6000 per day average), took a long distance nice bus between ISB and Lahore, and also took a flight from Lahore to Karachi. Add in multiple trips to relatives house in Karachi and one in Islamabad.... Quite a crazy experience and just about all good. But even we can't believe we did all that. Of course relatives were upset that we stayed in hotels some of the days.

Wife categorically refused to take the train back from Lahore to Karachi! :-)
