Pakistan anticipates surplus electricity in mid-2018

.
The question is, will electricity prices go down as well or not.
doesnt really matter if they go down , i would be happy with uninterrupted electricity supply.
lets talk about avg middle class family , they use ups with generator and or solar power, which is very expensive , also u have overheads like engine tuning , battery replacement every year etc

.
Up to 50 units = 4 rs. pr unit
50 to 100 units = 9.25 rs. per unit
After 101 to 300 units = 11 rs. per unit
301 to 700 units = 13.33 rs. per unit
above 700 units = 15 rs. per unit

Pretty expensive for a pakistani with average income.
kinda wrong, you are quoting prices for low voltage power(single phase meter)
anyone using more than 2-3KW will require a 3 phase meter whose rates are 18rs and 12rs depending upon time..
this is one of thehighest rates in the world, higher than cost of production in furnace run oil plants

.
Thanks for the replies guys so it means that situation is not as bad as it was in Pee pee pee's era i shudder when i remember about those years :(

In an interesting claim that may spark excitement among load-shedding-weary consumers across the country, the Ministry of Water and Power has declared that Pakistan will have surplus electricity of 1,224 megawatts in June 2018 – around the time when next general elections will be held.

This is a LIE, plain and simple. Only the gullible or the Green Blinder Brigade can believe this BS.

.
Since Nawaz came third time as PM, people are just hearing dates.
Load shedding hours are same as on his first day.

brother,

that's not true, i am in Karachi, no lead shedding in my residential area from last 3 years, and now no load shedding in my commercial area.

secondly my cousin living in Lahore also told me that load shedding decreased, as compere to previous years.

. .
We will overcome that but what about Kunda system and electricity theft ? we should remove these pylons and wires make it underground similar to Islamabad in other cities.
kunda system should be targeted and make them suffer as other people have to pay for their theft and they think its ok, general population should be educated and warned
got friends in hyderabad , they pay 1000rs and use ac all day long even when they go to uni

me also from karachi , you are telling half truths , in defence a, clifton and other areas that have nearly 100 per cent recovery and in areas where there is kunda system u get anywhere from 12 to 20 hrs as it should be
i totally agree with kesc on this
same goes for lahore i guess coz i went to visit cousin in lahore and they had about 10 hrs

totally agree with u

In Hyderabad it's 6 hours of load shedding...
And sometimes even less than this.....

In Hyderabad HESCO has replaced bare conductor with cable so no kundas now....
when did they replace with cable coz i was there last year and as mentioned kunda was well and trully aliveand kicking

brother,

I am living in North Nazimabad, and my many relatives in Buffer zone and FB area, they also not have any load shedding.

secondly my office is in Jodia bazaar, their we have load shedding of 4 hours during working hours, but no loadshedding from this year.

My many clints are in SITE, and Korangi Industrial area, and there are also no load shedding their during 9am to 5Pm.

.
This won't stop loadshedding. India is now a surplus country but discoms can't afford to pay for electricity 24/7 so loadshedding persists.

I am still in Pakistan and one hr load shedding after every two hours.

bro i said areas that pay bills have electricity be that nazimabad or fb area and that dont pay just like shah faisal have more than 8 hrs loadshedding as my friend lives there , in orangi its 8 to 10
And i said i totally agree with this line of reasoning of kesc , pay bills get electricity , hyderabad and interior sind have friends boast about kunda system and i for one am against paying for them

I have to see it to believe it. Projects have a habit being delayed with cost over runs. (Remember Nandipur) First let us see end of the electricity load shedding then we talk about surplus.

Regarding price, purchase price at the grid connection is different from the delivered price to the consumer. This is because electricity distribution which includes long transmission lines, manpower involved in the distribution network management and the transmission losses are a big factor in the total cost of electricity to the consumer.

For example average UK household electrify tariff excluding VAT is about 9p per KWH. At today's conversion it comes to about Rs 7 per unit ex VAT and about Rs 8.30 with VAT.

Since I toyed with the idea of having PVC panels installed on my house, I was informed that I could sell surplus power to the national grid at 4.85 p per KWH. The difference being the cost of transmission & the distribution. In other words, distribution from the power plant to the consumer cost is nearly as much as the cost of power generation.

Being specially interested in the energy field I read about Pakistan a lot. I came across this article in Dawn last year.

http://www.dawn.com/news/1190720 n

It says that GOP tariff for purchasing Wind generated power had been reduced to Rs 10.60 per unit from Rs 13.1998 per unit. The same article also mentions that GOP maintained the tariff for solar power plants despite 17% efficiency. So much for the Solar Park.

If the prices to the consumer as mentioned by Hon Shot-Caller are correct, Pakistanis are paying very low power prices. Even the US power tariff is closer to 10 cents per unit which is Rs 10/- and in Pakistan for a household with up to 100 units per month consumption, price is about the same.

Does anyone know what is the average power consumption in Pakistan per house hold on annual or monthly basis as of now?
